Darklily’s Purpose, cat gender edition! Aka Tawny creates new words to confuse the readers!
A cat wouldn’t really know human terms for gender, right? So I made up my own.
They have 4 different terms for gender; tom, molly, saum, and tashi. These four can be combined to better explain a gender, or new words can be created if a cat has a gender experience they can't name under the preexisting terms.
Tom and molly: binary man and woman, but we already know that.
Saum (originally spelled "som" but it looked like a combo of she-cat plus tom and I didn't like those implications) is a cat of no gender or an undefined gender. Saum can be modified with tom or molly (ex tom-saum or moll-saum) to indicate masculinity or femininity within the genderless-ness.
Tashi is a cat of multiple genders or a gender fluidity. And again, tom, molly, or tashi can be added on to signifiy a certain lean to one end. "Tashkit" can also be used to refer to intersex kittens until they decide a gender for themselves.
Application:
Darklily is by human terms agender, and by cat terms a saum. Despite using he and it prounouns, it does not have any other connection to tomhood and therefore he doesn't call himself tom-saum/saum-tom.
Bluestar is bigender and calls herself moll-tash, feminine leaning but still constisting of other genders.
Longtail is intersex and a demiboy but more masc leaning, and prefers plain tashi over saum-tash or tom-tash.
Redtail is a binary trans tom. Eaglecry is a binary trans molly. I have yet to create a word for trans so either I'll forfeit it or just say trans tom/trans molly.
