I don't know, but I hate it and it's made my past month exceedingly frustrating. So...solidarity, I guess.

At this point I’m half-seriously wondering if it would save more time just to make a fork of sklearn that turns all the frustrating exceptions into warnings, rather than spending hours and hours on workarounds.

Of course it wouldn’t get updated (or rather, I wouldn’t want to deal with the headache of merging updates into it and de-exceptionizing them), but I’m not sure anything in a future sklearn update is going to have much value for me?  It already does a whole bunch of more-or-less standard stuff and that’s all I want out of it.

I have the same worries about my own field (astronomy), but for somewhat different reasons. It's interesting to hear about it from a different perspective.

Huh, that surprises me. From an outside perspective, astronomy seems to be mostly getting the equipment it wants, modulo the occasional TMT protest. What sort of change do you see on the horizon?

I saw in your about me that you are a fan of rare trope. I'm curious as to what you've found/come across. The trope I learned is, at the very least, not one I've ever heard outside my own family, so it's a topic of great interest for me.

I was meaning rare trope along the lines of getting to chant a shalshelet or karnei farah, but I’m a fan of the other kind too! I learned a very mainline Ashkenazi nusach, but also know some Moroccan and a bit of original trope that my parents composed. I’d love to hear about your family’s! What’s the style like?

OMG yes if you want new books the Craft series (Gladstone's books) is AMAZING (also he's a boston author sobs all my books are signed) but anyway they aren't really in any order? although I'd recommend reading the other two before Full Fathom Five because some characters actually showed up again, they aren't like... strictly linear haha

OMG

I read Three Parts Dead and Full Fathom Five both by Max Gladstone (there’s another in the series, Two Serpents Rise) they’re urban fantasy with law magic and like dead gods and not dead gods and immortals and they’re AMAZING and im in the middle of rereading Gods of Gotham by Lyndsay Faye because the birth of the new york police plus pseudo-mystery idk I really like it
