Don’t leave—
When you do your prairie dog anti-predator call but it was just your mom in her moo moo getting up for her early shift at the burrow-making company
You know the worst thing when having a crush?
When you won’t be able to see him because you both work the early shift in different companies, on different sides of the city and you don’t have his number yet.
But: he knows you will have the early shift and for some time for now. And the joy when you see him again will be bigger.
And maybe he misses you as well. At least just a little bit…
Also: early shift is torture. I don’t know how he is able to look so good and awake… I look like a panda on coffee-withdrawal…
Thanks for listening to my daily shit you beautiful human. ♥️
Now you can carry on with whatever you were doing :)
If i look tired, it’s cuz i am.
Another early shift
Here we go again -- at least for the masses.
Another day; another $; and, if we're not careful, more brokenness.
But hey, it's Monday, the coffee is made, the puppy is still attacking the shoes and I'm apparently alive. I put it that way because save for the thoughts (which are only a fallible memory) the rest of my body wouldn't know one end of the day from the other (i.e. the heart).
I'd like to say it's a blessing to arrive here to do my legal wrangling, but I'm not sure that expresses the sense of underwhelm I feel in having to make sense of a world drunk on its own self-importance, always to the detriment of our non-human cousins.
But I'm getting ahead of myself.
This moment (oops, there it's gone) is all we'll ever have, and we'd do well to remember that.

One perk of an early shift is having the chance to see a pretty morning sky like this, though my phones camera doesn't do it enough justice.
Had to get up at three in the morning because I have work super fucking early today.
While I was eating breakfast I look over and see my neighbors garage light is on. Its angled in a way so I can directly see into the garage clear as day and vice-versa.
I look away for one second then look back and the light is off.
I freeze.
Because this means my neighbor saw me shoveling leftover fries and pizza into my face hole alone at three in the morning with nothing but the light directly above me on.
So I was literally under a spotlight while stuffing my face at three in the fucking morning and my neighbor probably most likely saw me.
I'll forever remember the time when I was on my 6am shift with this coworker I have (we are cashiers) and we both didn't sleep enough the night before and he tried to use the scan gun to scan an item. Yk, cashiering.
He ended up accidently trying to use the intercom phone.
Also the lane he was cashiering in doesn't have a scan gun.
