Early Week - June 17th and 18th
King of Pentacles: Fortitude
In the face of adversity, the King of Pentacles is resilient. Strong and immovable, he somehow carries a presence of yielding grace. He is untarnished by adversity, neither worn or weathered by time; these things have only forged a heart of gold inside his ever beating chest. Life flourishes around and within him, and while he manages to stay deeply rooted, he is always growing and expanding into something greater.
Today, call on your own strength and remember what it took to build the person you are today, all the times of weakness and adversity in your life. Acknowledge the pain you have carried, but only so that you can see what you've learned from it - then let it go. If you are struggling with letting go, keep in mind that nothing ever truly passes away, it is only transformed into something new.
Recognize the life and beauty that pulse around and within you, and know that you are a source of creation. Happiness and success are not things that happen to you; they are extensions of you. You are constantly molding the world around you and what you surround yourself with, so this week, call on your gifts to turn a painful experience into something beautiful. Let old branches fall away to reveal a thriving, prosperous spirit.

Early Week Update #16
I really need to do a better job of thinking before I speak cos I definitely just told Weatherly, "Use your words."
Early Week Update #15
I really hate it when professors try to impress the class by using unnecessarily obscure vocabulary without giving a definition. Like no, fuck you, I'm a reader and I know what "ameliorate" means. You're not impressing anyone; you're just making some students feel inadequate for not knowing the definition, and making me recognize that you're an asshole who takes smug pleasure in making helpless students feel bad about themselves.

Oh goodness. I am wondering why I took back to back weeks too. WITH NO COFFEE. I might die. PS. Those kids gotta get ready. It’s awfully close to ring by spring time …
There is no possible way that I could do this without coffee. You have my greatest condolences. Also, yeah dude. It's panic time. Those rings ain't gonna give themselves away.
Early Week Update #14
Dr. Weatherly is a brilliant man, who knows more about the gospels than I ever will. But I just greatly prefer how Jamie Smith teaches a book of the Bible over how Weatherly does it. Teach me about the culture the author was speaking to, and teach me how to interact with the text. Respect that I have a brain and intellect enough to make connections on my own.
Do not go through the text verse-by-verse, pointing out the things I could find for myself if I just pick up a good commentary or a Bible dictionary from the library. Do not waste my time or demean my intelligence.
Also Weatherly likes to vilify specific thinkers, as well as their ideologies as a whole, and I think that's a really stupid way to teach a class. It prevents students from interacting with challenging, opposing, edifying new thoughts and ideas, which stunts growth and perpetuates what I believe to be the greatest tragedy to Christian culture: the acceptance of being spoon-fed theology, never challenging what we're taught and never seeking out new ideas and experiences.
I dunno. I guess it's just that I have grown a lot since my last Weatherly class, and now I see that he's not as great as I remembered him to be, and it's made me really sad and I know I'll have a full week of continuing disappointment, and there seems to be very little hope.
Also I'm pretty sure I hate everyone in this class, which is really not helping.
Early Week Update #13
God damn what was I thinking taking two of these.
Also: no greater joy than listening to Bible college students awkwardly trying to flirt during break.
