So i just completed reading ready player one by earnest cline.
Like wow. Fucking amazing.
I just loved the entire story and the best part it was way different then the movie like seriously after reading the book the movie looks like an utter piece of disappointment.
Anyways the story is about this kid wow (wade owen watts) whose parents died when he was young. His father died when he was stealing something from some supermarket i guess and then his mother perished when he was eleven. So he moved in with his aunt alice who is a fucking bitch and only tool her sister's son in for food vouchers and her boyfriend rick is a dick and both of them are mean to wade. The only person wade truly liked in the real world was mrs. Gilmor she was a very sweet lady who treated wade like her own child and wade used to help her fix some tech stuff.
So in the movie there is a game called oasis (ontologic anthropologically simulated immersive system) this game was made by og (ogden morrows) and jdh (james dovonan halliday). It's like an open world game, u log in make an avatar and do quests and level up and the maximum level a person can reach is 99. Anyone can log in the game by giving there retina prints and name.
Wade was in the game with the name of parzival and he used to attend the school in the game. He was the first to find the first key and eventually four more people found the key after him they were called high five. One of those people was Wade's best friend whom he had never seen in real life, his name was aech (pronounced as letter h) the other player was his cyber crush, ar3emis (pronounced as artemis) and the other two guys were daito and shoto, they were brothers. Now comes the bad guys, the ioi (innovative online industry) they are trying to hunt keys as well but they are bad guys because let me qoute what are deceised friend daito used to say (no man of honour). The motive of winning the game is to inherit the will jdh left for the winner of the game.
IOI uses dirty tricks to win the game they tried to kill wade in real life because he was a threat to their victory and they succeeded in killing daito.
Eventually IOI cleared the first two gates and had the key for third gate but so did the high five. In the end wade or parzival wins the game and becomes the most powerful avatar in the game and resurrects his friends who had died helping him and vows to split the winning reward with them because according to him, he couldn't have done all this without them.
