Earthwyrm! First image is a neutral OC reference pose, second is all limbs out and about.
I guess this is the first rough anatomy post, so let's get into it:
Earthwyrms evolved from an echinoderm analogue. Due to the tumultuous nature of their homeworld (a moon orbiting a Jovian-style gas giant), their ancestors burrowed into the continental shelf in order to escape chemical changes in the ocean.
Notable features:
Ancestors were originally radially symmetrical but eventually became more bilateral. Ancestors were also like...shrew-sized and modern Wyrms are rhino-sized.
8 legs. 2 function as the "lower jaw(s)", 2 are held off the ground and used as digging/holding limbs (they are not good for fine manipulation), the rest are regular "legs". Also, they're rather bow-legged.
Lungs/breathing apparatus are the fin-like things over their back legs. They're similar to a clam siphon and have vocal cords.
The "jaw" legs also function as raptorial limbs like a mantis shrimp. These are used for fighting and digging/breaking rock. They will often "pop" these in states of arousal (not sexual) - ie, excitement, anger, etc.
Tentacle mouthparts > fine manipulators. They have four, two inner that are longer and more delicate, two outer that are shorter and stronger.
Their actual mouths are located at the back of the mouth pouch area. They don't chew, they have a gizzard-like organ.
Anus is located under the tail.
Genitals are near the mouth. They're sequential hermaphrodites and start life as females, with some percentage transitioning to male based on age, social standing, personality, etc. Females lay delicate soft-shelled eggs (which they spit out of orifices that lead into the mouth pouch), males take those eggs and fertilize/ shell them. Their reproduction is basically its own post jfc.
And last, but probably should be first, each little circle is an eye/brain/ear node. Each node is attached to a limb, and yes, this means they have 8 brains and a semi-decentralized situation. This is also its own post jfc.
....and last-last, their whole bodily fluid situation has a lot of bio-resin.
Got silly at a dragon themed drink and draw the other night and made an Earth Wyrm
Yet another gyrados clone! Earthorm- the worm pokemon Weak and soft, this pokemon travels through the dirt while eating small bugs. It bides its time waiting to evolve Earthwyrm- the earth dragon pokemon. This pokemon was once extremely week and frail. Upon evolution it increased its size by a multiple of 10. It spends most of its time underground, and uses its drill like tail as both a means of transportation and defense.
