elijah would say long shooting days were the worst, if most shooting days weren’t unbearably long and filled with so much lugging equipment that he thought he could throw his back out at twenty-five. but the reality was that they were that unbearable, to the point where elijah would go home to his couch, watch maybe one single episode of cartoons, and then knock out almost immediately after eating dinner. he wondered if lindsey were ever in the same boat - in need of a fat nap and pasta to seal the deal. “i don’t know about you, but i’m ready for food, adult-grade juice, and a long sleep. or like, 64 ounces of caffeine.” he leaned against the refreshment table, which had long since been drained of its gallon of coffee and sugary snacks. they were going to be wrapping up soon but soon usually meant ‘go screw around for an hour while we pour over what we have planned for tomorrow and then come break everything down’.

clementine had been waiting for the right moment for this. it wasn’t that there needed to be a good moment, but it just made more sense to give eliza her surprise later rather than sooner. as the party began to wind down clem had wandered around looking for her date after having lost her a good chunk of the evening. there was just-... too much going on at this party, and clem was glad for a moment of respite as she led eliza to a prettily decorated but mostly unoccupied room of the museum. the sound of the water running from the fountain just felt like a good backdrop, and clem had kind of needed to place the roses she’d bought somewhere so she didn’t just walk up to eliza with them and it could be a surprise. “close your eyes.” she ran off without really checking to see if eliza had closed them, heels clicking on the marble as she grabbed the vase of roses from its hiding spot and came back to stand in front of eliza. “i just uhm, wanted to thank you for coming with me to the gala tonight. and uhm-. oh god, sorry you can open your eyes now.” if she weren’t holding the roses she would’ve covered her face in embarrassment.
