Some Politics Is More Local Than Others

Called my parents this evening, who said they watching the "town hall meeting" on TV. They put me on speakerphone.

Me: Is this the GOP debate? Is Newt Gingrich still allowed at these?

My Mom: No, it's East Fishkill! [East Fishkill, NY, in Dutchess County]

Me: What?

My Mom: They put the East Fishkill Town Planning Commission hearings on local cable. It's like a soap opera!

Me: That's crazy. [Pause] Could you DVR them for me so I can watch 'em the next time I'm upstate?
