𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆 | After opening earlier this year, closing shortly after for return, changing their name, and reopening, @billthebutcherburger are open for business in Finsbury Park serving some of the best new burgers I’ve had this year. 🔥🔥🔥 They’ve put a LOT of thought and research into their final product and they’ve got it all so right. They’ve using top quality aged beef, throwing bone marrow in the mix, using a top supplier, and it shows. Even through the flavour of their luxury toppings, the beef shines. 🍔🍔 They have a standard cheeseburger for £8, but the menu largely comprises of premium luxury burgers priced at £14, BUT I think this is 100% backed up by the end product. You’ve got a burger with the most beautiful and perfectly cooked 12 hour cooked pork belly. You’ve got oxtail, Argentinian king prawns. or sliced steak as toppings. You are paying for absolute quality, and let’s not forget that there are burger places out there charging more than £14 for a double. Their chicken burger too, that’s amazing. It reminded me of chick n sours with the slaw. So many places get chicken burgers wrong, but they’re using a mix of thigh and leg that is then battered and deep fried. Honestly, this place is one to look out for and already has an amazing product. Their sides are great, too, and their menu is changing very soon. Also, how crazy that after nearly 2 hours of being there and talking to the owner, he remembers that we went to school together and were in the same class! 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆 | It seems like a really obvious thing, so why doesn’t everyone who offers a Sunday roast do it? I’m talking about bottomless roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings, and that’s exactly what @hubbardandbell at @thehoxtonhotel in Holborn do. 🥔 My issue with roasts at restaurants has always been the lack of potatoes, you usually only get 3 or 4, and that is definitely not enough. For me, a roast is about indulgence, and at The Hoxton they make sure you go away stuffed. The portions here are massive as it is, and that’s before you’ve even asked for your first spud refill. But unlimited of something isn’t always a good thing if the quality isn’t matched, but luckily @hubbardandbell make a BANGING roast. The lamb option is a whole load of pulled lamb shoulder, and the mushroom wellington also shouldn’t be disregarded. The third option is chicken, which I didn’t try, but again they do not hold back on quantity. A year after they changed chefs, changed the menu, and I put their burger right up there with the best. Another year on and I still rate it. 🍔🍔🍔 It’s a Wagyu and Angus blend with miso caramelised onions, American cheese, and Ichi burger sauce. It’s simple, but it hits the spot in every part. If you want to try it, get on to the Time Out website and find the voucher to get the burger, chips and @kirinichibanuk beer for £10! It’s an amazing deal as the burger on its own is £13.50. If you do go, get the dynamite shrimp to start. 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆 | So I had my first ever trip to @burgerandlobster last week and I LOVED it. I was really impressed with the quality of the food, and the different options available. 🦞 The Lobster Mac & Cheese is an absolute must, so creamy and soft. The calamari was also ridiculously good, maybe some of the best I’ve had. Seasoned very nicely, so soft and fluffy, cooked perfectly. 🦑 This is the Champagne Lobster Roll. It’s simple, it’s lobster dressed in their champagne and butter sauce, which is delicious, in a VERY nice brioche roll. The bread definitely is the killer attribute to get right here. Even though the lobster and the sauce is beautiful, it just wouldn’t get the appreciation if the bun wasn’t good. Luckily mine was perfect. It comes with a price, £27, but please don’t forget this is lobster we are talking about. 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆 | I went down to @lupita_restaurants last week for a lil Mexican feast. 🌯 With restaurants east and west, I went to the Kensington location. We started with the lamb taquitos, which I really enjoyed, and this amazing cheese and chorizo mix, ultimate cheese pull goals there 🧀. We also went for the chicken tinga quesadillas, which were nice, and the enchiladas, which were coated in a salsa verde rather than a tomato sauce, which I’m usually used to. It was my mistake, I should have read the menu more carefully. I did find the chicken in the enchiladas lacking any seasoning though, it was quite noticeably plain. For the tacos we tried out the baja fish, which were AMAZING. Nicely deep fried fillets of fish with pineapple pico de gallo and chipotle mayo. The soft shell crab was also a good choice. The pork al Pastor and the Campechano (steak and chorizo) were both okay in taste, but the meats were quite tough. The seafood tacos are definitely the way to go. 🌮 No I’m not sure if it was meant to be like this, or if something went wrong, but the chocolate sauce with the churros was REALLY sour, almost like vinegar. It was very inedible. It wasn’t sweet in the slightest. The cocktails were nice, and they’ve got a great selection. 🍹 So there was some things here that I really liked and thought was great, but there was also a few dishes that were quite a let down.
