🍔 Review № 594 ━ 📍 The Döner Factory ★★★☆☆ • The Döner Factory have two restaurants in Gothenburg, one in the city center by Avenyn and one in Mölndal Galleria, where they serve burgers, pizza and kebab. Their burger menu consists of eight smash burgers, and we ordered two different ones; a Double Cheese Burger with two 80-gram beef patties, four slices of cheddar, pickles and ketchup, and a Hot Gringo with two 80-gram beef patties, double cheddar, bacon, pickled red onions, lettuce, roasted onions, chipotle mayo and a spicy BBQ sauce. They cost 89 SEK (8 USD) each, and we also upgraded them with french fried and a dip for an additional 30 SEK (2.5 USD). • Our burgers came served on a tray, together with a large heap of french fries. But our double cheese burger looked surprisingly small, and we actually had to double-check that the kitchen had got our order right. And when we started eating we immediately noticed how soft our burgers were, especially the cheeseburger. The patties had some crust, but we would have liked it to be deeper to create a better balanced burger with different textures. The beef flavour was a bit anonymous as well, and we would have liked some more seasoning. The pickles were very sweet too, and together with the ketchup we got a very soft and sweet cheeseburger. The Hot Gringo was much better, with some heat from the barbecue sauce and added textures from the added ingredients. The large order of french fries tasted rather nice and was crispy, and were well worth the added cost. • We were happy to find smash burgers in Gothenburg, but we can't escape the fact that The Döner Factory haven't nailed the concept quite yet. I’m SO happy that Acton is getting better and better with its burger offerings. The Elizabeth line and new housing developments have brought an influx of new businesses to the area which will get it competing with some of the best zone 2 areas. @nodrama.w3 are a few minutes away from East Acton station, next to the new Western Circus development. A coffee & lunch spot by day, and a burger joint every Friday and Saturday evening. They’ve got @hgwalter meat and they know what to do with it. It’s hand pressed and cooked with a crust, then planted in between @socialbymax buns, a local chef who recently started supplying to local businesses. I thought the burger was great, and their weekly specials will keep things fresh and persuading me to visit every week. They do chicken burgers too, and their loaded fries were delicious. They do also do the burgers in the day time, and some more breakfast-friendly burger options.
