It’s so interesting to me how in Project Hail Mary, Grace is shown to be a coward before we actually know it.

This is all during the first part of the movie, in the spaceship. He runs from the robot when waking up, he runs from blip-a when it appears. When the message first gets sent over to the Hail Mary, he cowers and asks for shields, and even right before he goes to get the message with an EVA, he changes his mind and tries to bail, only going out because he gets pulled out accidentally.

They are all understandable actions, but not necessarily brave ones. The first time he’s shown to truly act brave is when he takes off his helmet in the tunnel, after rocky asked him to.

We don’t see it because we are under the impression that he is brave, that he chose to go on the mission and save humanity, but looking at the story chronologically, that’s not the case.

The movie was showing us the whole time that grace became brave for rocky, it just took until the end to say out loud.

Me watching Artemis II, me watching the joy and emotion of all the scientists and support staff who have dedicated themselves to this mission and all other projects for space exploration, me seeing the moon at night, me seeing the moon at daytime, me seeing stars, me watching a meteor shower, me seeing the northern lights, me watching previous space missions, me seeing the space shuttles, me watching anything about the Apollo and Gemini era, me watching a space documentary, me seeing the Earth from the Orion solar panel camera, me seeing humans at their best and most passionate when we serve beyond ourselves as a unified front as citizens of one planet and with the optimism for more missions and advancements to come for our planet and beyond 🌍🩷

I saw the Australian embassy person for India a few days ago at a competiton. My mom looked at my and said "That's gonna be you one day". So. Yeah.
