So something a little fun about how the new EC Horror books are playing with the horror hosts.

Putting under a read more because I included comic covers that have some gore.

EC launched Epitaphs From the Abyss with three new hosts, the Grave-Digger, the Tormentor, and the Grim Inquisitor.

The Grave-Digger was the main guy. He introduces the stories with the conceit that every tombstone tells a story.

Instead of trying to run these new horror anthologies forever, EC seems to be cycling through different ones. I mostly read sci-fi horror anthology Cruel Universe, because the covers kick ass. And Cruel Universe went twelve issues, was relaunched as the more fantasy focused Cruel Kingdom, and then came back for a second volume of Cruel Universe. With kick ass covers.

Epitaphs From the Abyss got twelve issues. A new book called Catacomb of Torment was launched. And at the end of the last issue of Epitaph, the Tormentor comes to celebrate the Grave-Digger’s retirement. By bonking him in the head with his own shovel and burying him alive so she can take over.

It’s not a lot but it’s a fun way to play with your hosts.
