One of the girls in my preschool class is so fucking sassy it would be impressive if it wasn’t so aggravating. She completely ignores verbal direction and then says “it’s my body, and I don’t want you to touch it!!!” when I have physically direct her. If I tell her no or correct her behavior she says “I’m a goddess 🙄💁♀️💅” and like, on the one hand, I’m glad she has this language. But she needs to use it to talk to creeps at the bar when she’s older, not to her preschool teachers. Girl, I grabbed your shoulders bc you wouldn’t stop pushing other kids in line after I told you three times. “It’s my body” please. Then control it. Shit now I’m beefin with a four year old.
Trying to have meaningful interactions with the preschoolers while we wait for the next activity:
Me: Hi C, I’m feeling excited to go outside today. How are you feeling?
C: I’m feeling uh, I’m feeling sleepy.
Me: You’re feeling sleepy? Did you sleep good last night?
C: Yeah.
Me: Okay, well you can sleep some more at rest time today.
C: I’m happy actually.
Me: Oh, you’re happy? Happy and sleepy?
C: Yeah. Sleepy but also happy.
Me: Good morning K! I’m feeling excited to go outside today. How are you feeling?
K: My mom says I just have a cough. It’s just a little cough and some sneezes sometimes.
Me: Oh you have a cold? So are you feeling a little sick today?
K: No my mom says it’s just a cough. I just have a little cough.
Me: So you’re not feeling sick today? How are you feeling?
K: *shrugs*
Me: I’m feeling excited to go outside. Are you excited to go outside?
K: *nods*
Me: Hey H! How are you feeling today? I’m feeling excited to go outside.
H: Huh?
Me: I’m feeling excited to go outside. How are you feeling today?
H: I, uh, I- I’m feeling… Kind of sad?
Me: Oh you’re feeling sad? What are you feeling sad about?
H: Because when we- uh, actually.. I’m feeling good!
Me: You’re not feeling sad?
H: No. I’m feeling- *gasp* look at my gloves!
Me: Oh yeah they’re green! Those are cool!
H: yeah and my dad just got them for me for Christmas!
Me: Wow that was nice of him! Your dad has good taste in gloves. Are you excited about your new gloves?
H: Yeah. And.. I’m feeling good.
Four year olds say things like “he’s a nice carnivore because he only eats leafs” and I’m like bro you’re talking about an herbivore. And then they look at me like I don’t know anything about dinosaurs. Pshh just because you’re wearing light up Jurassic park tennis shoes doesn’t mean you’re a paleontologist little dude. Get learnt.
20 preschoolers is too many. I need to eat a burrito, die, and resurrect in 3 days by the power of Christ to recover from spending 8hrs with 20 preschoolers. I can still hear the cacophony of the classroom echoing in my skull. Make it stop. Let it end… please… bring me my burrito…
It’s so funny how the preschoolers refer to adult couples in play pretend. One girl has referred to “his old lady” “his girlfriend” and “her babe” in playing together with dolls. Another kid says “you’re hims honey.” It cracks me up.
For some reason the preschool kids think freckles that I have in slightly unusual places (ex. on my neck, on my palm) are boo-boos. I guess any mark out of context becomes an accident, a boo-boo.
Got described as “so masculine” today by my classroom lead. Butch win 💪
