The climax of Marvel’s Echo is actually so important.
Maya’s journey throughout the season has been about reconnecting with her family and her culture (a culture that was forcefully stripped from her when she had to move and then her dad died).
And in a pivotal moment of confrontation, she rejects what she was taught and empathizes with Fisk. It’s the biggest fuck you to him because it shows that his teachings and his tactics of manipulation didn’t work.
In the end she gets to stay home with her family that cares about her, about who she really is, and he scurries back to New York.
