The Echocentrics // “Gettin’ Away with Your Gal” (feat. Bill Callahan), from Echo Hotel
“We read all the books, saw all the movies, what do we do now?”
To celebrate Argentina's Independence Day and the start to the Latin Alternative Music Conference in New York City, we turn to Natalia Clavier known for her work with Thievery Corporation for Today’s Top Tune, "Adios". Download KCRW's free daily song podcast at http://kcrw.com/todaystoptune and subscribe through iTunes.
Its no secret, I'm a big Natalia Clavier fan. From her debut album Nectar, work with Federico Aubele, the Echocentrics, and Thievery Corporation, her voice is always a breath of fresh air. I've been looking forward to this release for some time, and now its here. With contributions from Ursula 1000, Ticklah, and the aforementioned Echocentrics... its an album packed with talent. AND, its refreshingly fun. Get it.

Los canciones de amor
One of my favorite tracks through the past months was "esclavo y mio" by the Echocentrics. Having a haunting melody, perfect arrangement by the band and the sensual voice of Natalia Clavier, it could easily be in a soundtrack of a Tarantino movie.
You can find this marvelous song in the first and only Echocentrics album entitled Sunshadows, released by the always interensting Ubiquity label. The song also appeared in a 7" single release - I got this one - which it is still available.
I was very surprised - after having already bought the single - when I read the notes of the youtube link and found out that esclavo is a cover!
The version which inspired the Echocentrics is also a cover of a Peruvian bolero (ballad) performed by Los Pasteles Verdes. A masterpiece!
Exactly in the same style with Los Angeles Negros - Como quisiera desirte. If you don't the title, you'll recognise one of the greatest samples in music history: listen to this one and this one and another one and why not this one also
Download the original versions here. I also included a nice cover of the Zombies "I love you" by the peruvian band "Los Yorks".

The Echocentrics - Esclavo Y Amo
The Echocentrics is a new band from Austin-based two-time Grammy nominated producer Adrian Quesada, a member of Grupo Fantasma, and one of the minds behind bands Ocote Soul Sounds and Brownout. Teaming up with Argentinean singer Natalia Clavier and Brazil-based Tita Lima, he has carved out a southern-fried, laid back, and psychedelic-tinged sound. “Esclavo Y Amo,” is a cover of a Peruvian bolero (ballad) originally performed by Los Pasteles Verdes - the original was the inspiration for the forthcoming Echocentrics Sunshadows album. Sunshadows is available now on CD and LP. Every order will receive a FREE copy of the "Esclavo Y Amo" 7''. http://bit.ly/fCEm2o
