IM SO GLAD YOU ASKED HOMIE I've been looking over this one a little more lately bc I Rly like the idea I have here. It's still in the rough scripting stages but I'm constantly playing out different versions of it in my head trying to figure out how I want it to go. Like I know what themes/headcanons/ideas I want to explore and some pieces of dialogue I wanna include I'm just trying to find a way to put it all together to make a nice little ficlet!

Gonna put this under a read more just bc it gets a little long but here be an explanation, some little clips, and a silly little drawing I did while I was brainstorming!

Ok so the idea for this fic is -

Echo has been with tbb for a while now, long enough that he's settled in and gotten pretty comfortable with them, and especially so with Crosshair. I have a whole little headcanon about their connection that I could go on and on about it but that would absolutely devour this post so if anyone wants to hear the bulk of that shoot me an ask and I'll make a separate post about it. The short version is that after they rescue him, Echo manages to subvert Crosshair's expectations of him so hard it earns his respect pretty quickly (which is not an easy thing to accomplish) and that leaves Crossie pretty damn intrigued. And yeah after they get to know each other a more that kinda turns into a little crush lol.

SO here they've just finished a mission and are set to head back to Kamino the next morning after they stock up on some supplies. Hunter, Tech and Wrecker want to hang out in town a while longer, take the opportunity to explore while they can and all that. Crosshair and Echo say they've had enough excitement for the day and wanna pack it in, so they (meaning Echo lol) offer to take the goods back to the ship while the others do their thing.

Here are my notes on what happens next (excuse how clunky they are, these are just the bare bones of the scene I put together as something to build off of)

And yeah from there on out they pass the bottle back and forth, get a little dronk, and Echo comes to find out that alcohol makes Crosshair a little more expressive than usual. And maybe a little more flirtatious. When their conversation starts to get personal, Crosshair is still decently cagey but it doesn't take much to get him to divulge. I kinda go through some of my headcanons for his connection with Hunter - Childhood best friends who had an on-off thing for most of their lives. They were each other's firsts for a lot of things and there is a deep, longstanding love between them. But they also had a tendency to get really firey and intense with one another so they had this break up-make up-rinse-repeat cycle that caused a lot of tension within the batch and started affecting how they worked together on the job so Hunter they decided to call it quits for good before it could become a liability, both on the field and to their comradery.

Crosshair drops some subtly flirty cues, and Echo would normally either act a little oblivious to it or treat it like banter to play it safe and keep things from getting awkward, but he's past that point now and with the added context about Hunter he thinks its something that should be addressed. So he says something along the lines of "I see what you're getting at, and I'm not saying that I'm not interested- but I don't want to step on any toes here." Something something, they stuck their necks out for him and invited him into their squad, Echo wants to return that kindness and respect and not cross boundaries that could make them regret taking him in.

This is the idea for their exchange after that's all laid out:

That's where I'm at so far with this piece. Debating whether or not I want them to smooch a little or have a little banter that gets them 🤏 this close to a kiss before the others get back and they try to act all casual abt it lol. I love these two so fucking much, honestly one of The Ships Of All Time to me and I've been haunted by visions of all the different ways this scene could go for like two months now.

Also this idea came about when I got a new jacket with hidden pockets on the inside, and it already had Crosshair vibes as is so I just imagined him wearing it while they needed to be undercover in civvie clothes, and using the hidden pocket to stash some Definitely Legally Obtained Not-Contraband.

And then of course I had to draw him and Echo being cute in some fancy little outfits

So there u have it! I hope I get the motivation to work on this one a little more bc I love them so much and I love sticking them in situations where they're alone together and given a push to open up a little.

Oooo this is one I really wanna do someday I'm so glad you asked! I also wanna turn it into a comic someday when I get a little more confident in my art :3

It's basically like, right after Echo has really started to settle in with the batch, they're back on Kamino and Echo finds Cross outside on a little platform balcony thing sneaking a smoke-

God I am such a sucker for Echocross angst. I just want them to fucking talk to each other about their feelings damnit! Also that first line of Echo's is so funny to me bc I definitely think a lot of the clones would probably smoke if they could.

Has RIP been put on hold due to the new game? Sorry if I seem like I’m rushing you but I’m curious.

I’m working on two games simultaneously! The programmers to both games are juggling fulltime jobs, so if I only worked on one game, it would leave me with a LOT of idle time
