          “You are insufferable!” The words practically punch their way from his mouth as he briskly walks away from the meeting room. Documents and files are clutched close to his chest and his brow is knitted tight. It wasn’t unusual to have heated debates with Hubert, especially not when council was held. But the fire seemed to cling to Ferdinand as his nerves seemed to spark continuously under his skin.

          Perhaps his latest pitch for reforms was rather outlandish. Maybe the amount of death in a war was inevitable. But it seemed to eat at him as his steps echoed through the halls. “Is it your goal to make a mockery of me? You have already made it abundantly clear that you see me as foolish, but must you do so in front of everyone?”

The tiny little girl stood on her tip toes to hand Niles her crudely done drawing - an attempt at drawing him gazing up at the moon!

Living a life on the streets meant you’d be a stranger to most normal human things. Like gifts. Niles used to think he knew well enough by not immediately accepting someone giving something to him out of kindness, if he even accepted it at all. More often than not, when people did that it was for their own gain. But his own daughter? No, she could never do such a thing to him.

So Niles let himself kneel down to her height, keeping her from staying up on just her tiptoes to gingerly take the drawing. It was definitely done by a child-all the stars were the same five-pointed shape and the moon even had a little smiley face, but it was charming nonetheless. A small chuckle leaves his mouth, a slight smile on his face as he pats Nina’s head. “Thank you, Nina. Looks like one day you’re gonna grow up to be a great artist, huh?” Yeah, he was definitely going to treasure this, one of the few things he ever did in his life.

Yet a smile forms on her face. It's a soft one. One that's not seen most days. Jakob may not like this, but what's a night off from tactical work to spend with him? 

"I am sorry for not being able to. If I may," Kamui reaches up to hold his hand with both of hers. "My evening is free. Could we spend it together? We have a fair bit of time to catch up on."

"Hey." Nina shuffled awkwardly on the spot, before finally thrusting a gift in Shiro's direction. "I've heard you talking about you and your old man being cheeses or something, right? So I got you some fancy Nohrian cheese. Actually, that was funnier in my head. I'll leave."

“Pft, what?” He can’t help but laugh, it wasn’t that funny, but to Shiro it might as well have been. “Hey, wait Nina! Thanks, it was hilarious, you don’t gotta leave.”
