「✧」 April 9th — A miracle awaits
Eclair Hollow had always longed for a child.
But she never found the time to have one, ever since becoming Headmistress of Scepter Hall — married to Malory Khione.
Stress added to stress, and to add insult to injury, Eclair faced a great many losses during some of the earliest years of the school's history.
Burdens she had to shoulder, legacies that — oftentimes — she wished she never had to bear.
And perhaps that was one of the many reasons why she'd refrained from having a child, in her long, frivolous life.
And maybe, just maybe, such frivolities were the reason Malory left. The reason he seemed to have given up and ‘died’ on his most lovely sunflower.
Eclair never knew what happened to her husband. What fate had in store for him, or whatever his intentions of leaving were.
All she knew was that it added to her loneliness.
Without her husband, without the joys of life she'd frequently yearn for; it felt like there was a hole in her body, making her feel…. Hollow.
But it all changed. For better, for worse, regardless — it changed.
Because on the 9th of April, Eclair finally got what she wanted.
She finally had her miracle. Her daughter.

「✧」 The early stages
Eclair loved her daughter and found her to be her pride and joy. Her miracle, her everything. Even when she was a block of wood, Eclair loved her.
Oh, but even so…. Eclair felt saddened, every once in a while. Watching her baby grow up, she'd occasionally wished that Malory were there too. Watching their little girl grow up together.
These thoughts consumed Eclair, day by day, in the early stages of her daughter's childhood.
So much so, that it made her feel…. Protective, over her daughter. In a way she'd never felt protective over anyone else.
Malory left, leaving Eclair to wallow in agony, yearning for his return.
Belladonna — someone she once saw as a daughter — died far too young, far too tragically.
Eclair couldn't bear the thought of thinking of Belladonna for too long. Not when her daughter seemed to look a little too much like her.
And as for her daughter's name, well…. Initially, she was going to name her after Belladonna. After the girl that she loved as her own.
But that mindset, that idea, had changed. Eventually deciding to give her daughter a name with the same first letter as her ‘late’ husband.
Meryl.

「✧」 The Curious Child
Meryl proved to be a curious little thing. Well, even in the present day, that still holds true.
She loved research and gadgetry. Her drawings were always of maps, her books involved traveling worlds beyond comprehension.
Everything was a curiosity to Meryl. A riddle to solve, a puzzle left behind? The moment she found something that piqued her interest, it'd be almost impossible to pry that interest out of her small freckled hands.
For a girl her age — even in the present day, at seven years old — Meryl was smart.
She still talked like any other child her age, but that didn't necessarily stop her from being a bit too analytical for someone as young as her.
Meryl had a fondness for everything ‘odd’ or ‘out of the ordinary’. She never walked to it, she raced, scared that someone would take that opportunity away from her.
It was a habit she developed, to say the least. A habit that manifested because of one person, and one person only.
Eclair.

「✧」 A New Cage
It was unsurprising that Meryl grew tired of her day-to-day life, once she hit seven years old.
She acknowledged that her mother cared for her deeply. But she could never understand why Eclair insisted on keeping her contained in the comfort of their home.
It wasn't like Meryl hated being at home, more so she wanted to travel. To live, to see, to experience those places she read of in the books she skimmed through.
Eclair may have indulged in a good portion of Meryl's curiosities, but the one thing she never allowed her daughter to indulge in was leaving.
From seeing things she didn't want Meryl to see. To find answers to questions Eclair didn't want answered.
And one day, Meryl had enough of it.
Her Mother was away, playing Oracle of Clarion in the ways she always did.
And she left their home, briefly.
And she rejoiced, upon realizing that the outside world wasn't so bad after all. And that Eclair had accepted her in leaving, allowing her to wander.
Poor Meryl. Poor, poor, Meryl. She didn't truly leave.
"Welcome to Bricoler. Be as creative as you please, for we will happily embrace all things out of the ordinary."

˚₊· ͟͟͞➳❥ The dormitory was originally founded under the tenacious curiosities of the fairies of tinkering
˚₊· ͟͟͞➳❥ The founder was said to be a lot like Meryl; Curious, hard-working, and almost just as childlike. It was no surprise that they were the youngest of the founders, and that Eclair worried for them the most
˚₊· ͟͟͞➳❥ The dormitory colors are varying shades of Green, Brown, Gold, (occasionally) Yellow, and White. And much like Magnijardin, the uniforms are especially customizable in this dormitory
˚₊· ͟͟͞➳❥ Students in this dormitory tend to excel in technology, alchemy, and magical research. And happen to be the ones supplying most of the medicine in the infirmary
˚₊· ͟͟͞➳❥ Most known to be the most curious and inventive dormitory, alumni of this dormitory help improve the security guard and their technological advancements to protect the academy
˚₊· ͟͟͞➳❥ Students in this dormitory are encouraged to happily make as many discoveries as they wish, and help improve the world no matter how dark it may seem
˚₊· ͟͟͞➳❥ A frequent visitor of the dorm is Madam Maryse, a former vice general to Lilia Vanrouge's military division and a pioneer who can't help but constantly analyze every angle of every situation
˚₊· ͟͟͞➳❥ Madam Maryse is highly respected by the students of the academy, however she can't help but feel irked knowing that despite that respect, there will always be someone somewhere in someplace that will belittle her as though she were as fragile as glass.

˚₊· ͟͟͞➳❥ Situated in the academy's hall of portals, lies the portal to Bricoler's dormitory building
The archway is made entirely out of oak, dark oak, no less. Adorned with varying leaves and plants alongside an acorn or two.
Walking through the archway will have you encounter a small wooden hammer, and a miniature wooden replica of an anvil; almost the same size as the hammer.
˚₊· ͟͟͞➳❥ Lightly hitting the anvil will allow an abundance of leaves and dandelions to swirl surround you and transport you to the entrance of Bricoler's dormitory building

▹ †𝆤࿙๋࿙࿚⊱ཻུ۪۪⸙͎⊰࿙࿚๋࿚𝆤† Dorm Building/Aesthetic
˚₊· ͟͟͞➳❥ The dormitory building is similar to a life-sized dollhouse, and which each new student it feels as though the building gets larger and larger
˚₊· ͟͟͞➳❥ Like all the other dorms, Bricoler's bedrooms are customizable for the student's preferences, however it's encouraged to give your room some sort of a special touch to signify that it is your room. And no one else's
˚₊· ͟͟͞➳❥ Like all the uniforms in the academy, Bricoler is no different. But much like Bystro Letyuschiy, there's no particular theme to go for in Bricoler; Just as long as you are comfortable with what you chose to wear, then everything will be fine
Author's note: This is basically my equivalent of a Christmas special, and I need to make content of my beloved fanschool eventually ^^ the prologue's still in the works, but that's to be expected when writing a story. If this isn't good, I'm really sorry ^^||

The planning
Scepter hall's four realms festival is considered a very prestigious event, especially in the winter season since the festival is at it's most exclusive during that time
Forêt geleé was ecstatic to help with the decorations, this is the event where they don't need to worry about melting after all
Eclair was rather solemn with the planning, this festival in particular was her favorite. Why? Well, it's hosted by the dormitory that her husband was once the head of
Nowadays, forêt geleé is run by Clark, who handled the preparations wonderfully
Meryl also wanted to help, and ended up spending some time with Madam Monroe and Lilia while the preparations were in order
Though, Meryl can't help but question what kind of relationship Lilia has with her godmother
Lilia and Monroe: *Basically flirting*
Meryl: When are you gonna kiss?
Lilia and Monroe:
Madam Monroe definitely tried to tell Meryl that she and Lilia aren't like that but it was unsuccessful on her end-
It's not like Lilia DENIES it tho-
Claudette was a little conflicted about the festival, since it was basically a monochrome masquerade ball instead of an actual festival
It wasn't like she was against it, she just felt awkward when she has to refer to it as a festival since... It doesn't really feel like one?
Finnigan was busy scheduling and preparing the security measures for the event, so Clark ended up having to bother Ambrosia and Brooke (Much to their chagrin)
.... Clark was almost drowned by Ambrosia in the eauxclaires dormitory tho, he probably annoyed her too much XD
Brooke also threatened to attack Clark with his animals, but to Clark, it was an empty threat compared to the attempted murder Ambrosia did to him-
To put it simply, everything was running smoothly
The dorms were excited for the event and the celebration of the new year, the staff made sure nothing was out of order for it, and Meryl was happy because the decorations were pretty :D
Clearly the last one is the most important. Meryl's opinion is above all (⌐■-■)
Hell, Eclair was less solemn by the end of the preparations and was genuinely feeling rather giddy about it
She may be grieving her husband's supposed death, but this event is still her favorite one. With or without her husband in it.
So really, it was smooth sailing for everyone

The days of the 'festival'
It's still a bit chaotic in traditional Scepter Hall fashion, but it was still smooth sailing for them so they didn't really care
Everyone looked spectacular in their winter themed masquerade clothes, especially Magnijardin and Forêt geleé. They practically stole the show with how elaborate their outfits were
Meryl wore a simple white tea dress with light blue ribboning that complimented the dress really well
As for Eclair, she ended up wearing the most simplistic outfit compared to everyone else. A sleek, yet simple black blouse that matched well with her equally as sleek white suit
It was classy, sleek, and also showed authority over everyone else despite the simplicity of it
Madam Monroe snuck Lilia in, alongside Sebek, Silver, and Malleus
Malleus was practically ecstatic when he was invited to such an illustrious event
Mercury kinda had to be held down, since he didn't expect, nor want, a Draconia to be in his presence
Finnigan kinda just told him to let loose and have fun without worrying about Malleus, so Mercury did just that to clear his head
Meanwhile Clark and Ambrosia were practically hammered after having a concerning amount of shots
Claudette was hyping them up, but was still worried for her wife

A suspicious white owl
Warning: Kinda contains a key part of SHI's main story
With Brooke, he chose not to be with the rest of the staff since he really didn't like the cold environment no matter how beautiful it appeared
So he was just outside the venue, and making sure no one broke in on his side(The guards Finnigan hired were handling the other side)
Brooke didn't really do much, to be completely honest
He was just conversing with his animal friends(the ones who weren't in hibernation), and discussing their plans for the new year
Then, Brooke felt a random yet familiar presence and advised the animals to flee just in case.
When they did, Brooke was ready for whatever fight he might have to go through
Imagining Neville Longbottom with his fists and trying to threaten Harry and his friends just so they don't get Gryffindor in trouble
But he... Didn't fight at all. In fact it felt like there was no suspiciously familiar presence whatsoever
Instead, Brooke caught sight of a white owl perched onto one of the snow-covered trees
What made it even stranger for Brooke, was the aura that was emitted from the owl
It.... Didn't have the aura of any typical winter owls, or any owls in general
.... It was almost like it wasn't even an owl to begin with
Brooke, somewhat disturbed by this revelation, tried to approach the owl as best as he could
Which failed, since the owl just flew away when Brooke was getting just a little closer
Brooke was a little freaked out, so he just went back inside to tell Eclair about what happened
Which also resulted in failure
Eclair was busy enough as it was and merely assumed that Brooke was hallucinating, completely ignoring whatever he had to say
At that point, Brooke just felt tired and told everyone that he was gonna go to sleep back in Animania
Everyone respected his wishes and wished him a good night's sleep

A heartfelt speech
After Malory's disappearance, it became an unintentional tradition for Eclair to give a heartfelt speech about how his disappearance affected her and others
And somehow, it tugs at everyone's heartstrings every time
For this year, this was the first time Eclair actually teared up giving the speech
In previous years, she would look sad, somber, and filled with grief.
But she wouldn't shed a tear
This year was different.
And seeing their headmistress shed so many tears reminded some students that she's still a 'person' with emotions, not some heartless dignitary
Meryl actually ended up crying alongside her mother, which only further increased the rate of sadness that filled the atmosphere
It felt almost uncomfortable.
In an attempt to switch up the current mood, Finnigan suggested to just have fun and... Basically worded it like they have to completely ignore what Eclair said during her speech
He's trying his best, he isn't really the best in social situations
As the partying continued, Eclair decided to doze off for the night and left her daughter under the care of Lilia and Monroe

The ending of the event
When the so-called 'festival' ended, everyone was anticipating the new year
Some were excited, others were scared, and some couldn't find a reason to care
Meryl bid Lilia and his unofficial children goodbye and was already a bit sad that she can't play with her quintessential godfather anymore
Naturally, before he left, Lilia assured Meryl that he'll find time in his schedule to play with her again
This also means she has to witness him and her godmother flirt
Clark continued to tease his cousin for her obvious romantic affection towards Lilia, but she simply disregarded it and claimed their relationship was simply platonic
All in all, the four realms festival ended on a satisfying note
And those within Scepter hall anticipate the new year with open arms
Having known each other prior to the adoption, Briar and Eclair's relationship only continued to flourish after the awkward tension of the trial
Usually refers to her as "Mother"
I'd imagine that Briar unintentionally called Eclair "Mother" by pure instinct before the adoption even happened
Regular tea sessions in order for Briar to settle down from all the stress she could be having
Briar admits that she always saw Eclair as a mother figure, more so than she ever did with Eletha
Eclair's ready to say some... Not-so-child-friendly words to those who still talk down on Briar, even after knowing how much she's been through
When it comes to noble gatherings where the family has to come together, Eclair always has a hand on Briar's shoulder as a form of security and assurance
Any nightmares Briar has? Eclair's willing to listen to whatever she wants to say and has sleeping herbs that'll help her ease up when sleeping
Honestly, Eclair already knew Briar's food preferences (as she had told her prior to her possible transfer to Scepter Hall) and made sure the food during lunch was to her liking
Due to Eclair's favoritism (that she never admits), If Briar attended SHI, she'd have a 30 minute late pass during class hours
Meryl, Stepsister
They already acted like siblings before the adoption, so honestly their bind just grows stronger
Meryl calls her "Bree" because it reminded her of when they first met, and she didn't know how to properly pronounce "Briar"
Meryl's probably the reason Briar's late to class(if she attended SHI) because MAN, she's good at messing with Briar's head regarding time when playing tag
Has been scolded by Briar and Eclair multiple times for swearing
However Alison was the one who ended up influencing Meryl
Always eats the cookies during tea time. It's basically her equivalent to scones
Someone's trying to hit on Briar? Well, they'll need to get through her SISTER first >:^
And by that, I mean Meryl just manipulates the suitor by being absolutely fucking adorable
At some point, Meryl tried befriending Aurus, but her attempts never worked because of Aurus and the way he was raised
Malory Khione, Stepfather (?)
Honestly? Briar never knew Malory personally
The only things she knew of him was the fact that he's Meryl's father, and was Eclair's husband by proxy. And maybe a few offhanded facts, but that's honestly it
She never really chooses to ask Eclair about him since she's aware how much it hurts her to remember the disappearance of her husband
Briar also felt bad for the fact that Malory went missing right before Meryl was manifested by Eclair's wish, knowing full well that Meryl would never be able to meet her father(... Or will she?)
She makes sure to be especially respectful in Forêt Gelée since it's the only dorm that's had their original founder up until the modern ages until Malory's disappearance. Leading the next dorm head to be Clark
Victoria never cries unless Zen or her parents are the only ones in the room.
As shown through her personality, Victoria does not seem like a crier. Let alone cry at all.
But even if she isn't human, her emotions are as valid as any other human. She just doesn't want to cry, specifically in public.
Victoria's created the public perception of herself as a cold-hearted 'villainess' who's ruined reputations and never makes a different in expression. Just an emotionless husk in the eyes of both the nobility and night raven college.
But Zen and her parents.... They're the only ones who can witness her vulnerability. Because she trusts them with her feelings the most.
The only time she ever cries is when Zen or her parents are in the room and no one else is around. Her parents love and care for her, so its natural that they'd want to support her in any way they can in order for their daughter to be happy.
And for Zen, well he's her best friend. They're practically inseparable and are attached at the hip. So of course, it only makes sense that Zen is allowed to see her in that moment of vulnerability.
Zen was her first friend. And she's making sure that they'll stay together until they grow old and wrinkled which is impossible given they're both mythical creatures who are incapable of growing old.

Yuuta's good in the kitchen, particularly when he makes pancakes.
It isn't particularly known that Yuuta is fantastic when working in the kitchen until his first home economics class in NRC, in which he completely knocks it out of the park and outshines everyone with his dark and white chocolate upsidedown cake.
He doesn't bake nor cook much, but he's surprisingly efficient when he does. Grim even admits that Yuuta's food is as good as tuna.
Yuuta usually eats the lunch the school provides, but there are times where he brings himself homemade lunch. They're usually based on the food he ate when he was in his world, like takoyaki or dango. Don't ask where he gets the ingredients
Even though he excels at debate, Yuuta's still phenomenal when working in the kitchen. But he always makes food for himself, never for others unless they asked him beforehand... And if he trusts them enough-

Freyah is better than most of heartslabyul at croquet.
Given she already embraces the odd fantasies of wonderland, it isn't a surprise that Freyah's so good at croquet. It was the sport that the queen of hearts adored so much.
She's very cheeky when playing. She'll be polite to the hedgehogs, but she'll play in the most ridiculously cartoonish way possible to piss off her opponents since they know she's gonna win anyway.
Frisk was the one that originally taught Freyah croquet, and she's very proud that her sister's managed to upstage everyone in the dorm.
Ace is a bit salty and would try to do the same moves as Freyah if they ever played. It only ever really ended in Freyah's inevitable victory though-

When Cressida first met Victoria, she basically became a simp.
It is widely known throughout RSA that Cressida is into girls, and also happens to be of prominent nobility.
So when she was given the opportunity to meet Victoria Shard by her parents, she was ecstatic. She found Victoria's reputation to be intriguing and couldn't help but want to meet her herself.... And also because she heard she's VERY beautiful
And Victoria DID NOT disappoint. Cressida felt a love at first sight moment when she first laid her eyes on her. It isn't really romantic interest, just gay panic-
What made it even better for Cressida is that Victoria never said anything about her skin during their first interactions! It made the moment feel very heartwarming for Cressida since most people would talk about her scale-like skin and all.

Meryl doesn't know what her father looks like.
Okay so this isn't exactly a retcon since in one post Meryl said she made her mom and dad plushies with magic, BUT.
Meryl doesn't actually know what Malory looks like. She just gets vague descriptions about his appearance and decided to take that into account while making his plushie.
Meryl basically grew up fatherless because of the sudden disappearance of her father, which is why she's so curious to learn more about him. Even if it's just his physical appearance.
Eclair wants to tell(or at least imply) to Meryl that her dad is... Likely dead.
There isn't enough evidence to prove that, but because Eclair basically secludes herself in SHI, it's the only assumption she can make.

˚₊· ͟͟͞➳❥ The founder, Eclair, was and continues to be known as one of the most talented oracles in Twisted Wonderland. And when crisis occurs, it tends to be her that the people ask for
˚₊· ͟͟͞➳❥ The dormitory colors are White, Gold, Bronze, and varying shades of Yellow and Orange. However, the uniforms are customizable
˚₊· ͟͟͞➳❥ Students in this dormitory tend to excel in navigation, prophecy, and astronomy, and most of them are almost always off in their own world
˚₊· ͟͟͞➳❥ Most known for their self reflection, many graduates of the dormitory go on to live successful lives as psychologists or imperial squires

The archway is made of marble, however its structure is similar to that of ancient Greek temples.
Walking through the archway leads you to encounter a mirror hung to the wall. Made purely out of gold, it felt as though looking at your reflection for too long could blind you for seven knows how long.
˚₊· ͟͟͞➳❥ By extending your hand to your reflection in the mirror, it will quickly release itself from the mirror's clutches to pull you into the pathway to Natelitsa's dormitory building

▹ †𝆤࿙๋࿙࿚⊱✦⊰࿙࿚๋࿚𝆤† Dorm Building/Aesthetic
˚₊· ͟͟͞➳❥ The dormitory building is meant to replicate that of an ancient Greek temple, and has a dozen or so sun and moon motifs to give it an almost timeless feeling
˚₊· ͟͟͞➳❥ The interior also has a similar feeling to the exterior, and the bedrooms are also customizable to fit to the students' preferences
˚₊· ͟͟͞➳❥ The dormitory uniforms are customizable, however, it's almost recommended to customize your uniform in a way that helps you shine (or at least helps you utilize your magic via the light)
Answer: Anything. Scepter Hall is very prestigious, but they're also very adamant on letting their student's creativity run through their fashion choices.
Obviously they have dress code rules, but they aren't all that excessive.
Your outfit must correspond to your dormitory based on color to prevent confusion
Miniskirts and the showcase of midriffs are allowed. But showing more than you should with your outfit is prohibited (Example: Showing your entire thigh)
Figure hugging outfits are not allowed
And generally those are the general consensus of dress code rules.
What are the dorm colors?

What species are allowed in Scepter Hall?
Good question!
{ The do's }
Fairies: The most common of the student population since the school was originally intended to be exclusive for fairies
Elves
Faeries
Nymphs
Sirens/Mermaids: Siren students are not transferred to the school by dandelions, rather they are floated to the school in the form of a water lily that's guided by a staff or alumni
Seelies: Same way of transportation as the sirens/mermaids
Generally these are the most common of the student population, but generally you can do whatever creature you want as long as it isn't:

Angels/Demons: No. Absolutely not. Demons have had a bad history with Scepter Hall as does angels
Humans: NO. They will literally die if they inhale the scent of the wild flowers or anything in the academy in general
Half blooded angels/demons/humans: If they're half angel/demon, that will cause conflict in the academy. If they're half human, they're more prone to fatal illnesses. Especially if they're blood is more human
Demigods: No. They're basically half human so their godlike abilities will be nothing in comparison to the dangers Scepter Hall has
Gods: Need I say more?
I apologize if I'm pushing limits on creativity, but this is solely to keep SHI's lore consistent ^^||
Another thing to add: Scepter Hall is Co-ed. So if you want to make a male student oc, you can. It isn't actually an all girls school-

For those who want to make an MC for SHI?
You can make them human, it's just that they'll have a lot of limitations on what they can do in SHI
Thankfully because SHI is surprisingly stable, no therapy needed(And Clark's already a counselor)
You need to make another conflict other than overblots since Eclair makes sure overblots don't even happen (Unlike a CERTAIN headmaster)

The dos and don't's still apply to the staff
You can make your own classes for the staff oc, you just need to make sure it matches with SHI's ideals
Go ham on the creativity with their appearance

Today is the day, the day Briar had been dreading for the past two weeks
The annual trial in the slumbering willows that will either prove her innocence to the kingdom, or leave her banished and humiliated
Claudette had lent Briar a lot of the dresses that she doesn't use anymore and insisted that it was fine if she decides to keep them permanently. However, she also told Briar to wear something that was neutral, something that wasn't too flashy or bland
So naturally, Claudette gave Briar a black and gold dress. It appeared rather plain, but the details on the dress itself was enough to catch the eye. To add onto that, Eclair gave Briar her tiara to wear for the trial
(The outfit showcase because that's what's most important ✨)
When Meryl went to check up on Briar, she squealed seeing her in the dress and talked about how perfect it looked with golden hair
Although she didn't like the bright colors of the tiara since a bit felt out of place with the outfit in her opinion, Meryl wanted Briar to keep wearing it as this is basically the last time she'll be princess
Noticing the door opened, Briar saw the woman she frequently met with at the Eauxclaires fountains. The dorm head of the dormitory herself, Ambrosia Nightcrawler. It also happened that Ambrosia went through something similar and knows the proper procedures to help Briar win this trial
With Eclair, Ambrosia, and Meryl by her side for this trial, Briar was confident and hopeful enough that she'll win the trial and proven of her innocence to the kingdom of slumbering willows
While inside the carriage, Eclair told Meryl and Briar to sleep for a while, since Scepter Hall is incredibly far from the slumbering willows and it would also be good that Briar has enough energy to muster up the entire trial
And, that's what the two did. Although Meryl took a while to sleep until Ambrosia read 'the immortal liar and her crow' to her
How convenient that she has a bedtime story in her bag lol
Briar felt at peace for about 3 hours, the worries of the possible outcomes not in her mind during those moments
And then they came to a stop to where the trial would take place
The imperial court
Just looking at the marble building made Ambrosia's blood boil from the memories of her experience as an accused murderer
Thankfully, Claudette was also there to calm her down a pinch in case she begins to erupt a nearby tsunami
Walking into the courtroom with all the nobles and commoners gathering to see their half-blooded princess try to prove her innocence today.
Standing on the marked pedestal, Briar took a good look at who was going to judge her. And immediately, knew that winning their favor was going to be difficult.
Earl Rosella. The judge of the imperial family who had always suspiciously favored Eletha for whatever reason. He also happened to be Countess Kellen's older cousin, so it'll be difficult to win his favor.
Taking off her coat and handing it to her girlfriend, Ambrosia revealed a sleek black suit with a rose gold brooch that Briar assumes Claudette gave her.
Being given the files from Eclair, Ambrosia walked confidently next to Briar, intimidating many people around her with composure.
Clearing his throat, Earl Rosella gave a stern look to both Ambrosia and Briar.
"Briar Auroria. Two weeks prior to this trial, Queen Eletha Auroria had accused you of the murder of my younger cousin, Countess Kellen. Do you solemnly swear to say nothing but the truth and only the truth during this very trial?"
Although nervous, Briar reluctantly nodded, pledging never to lie with her tiara suddenly being replaced with another one. Although similar in design, the other tiara had a more gray colored jewel.
Assuming the jewel on said crown had a spell that'll be a detection of lies, Ambrosia caught a glance at the jewel with suspicion all over her pretty face.
Clearing her throat, Ambrosia's face fell solemn as the trial properly began.
(Just a clear warning my lawyer friends means going to Google to see how trials work🤪)
All eyes were on both Briar- The Accused- , and her lawyer who went through a similar situation
There were times where Ambrosia went off track with what she was saying, often having memories where she experienced Briar's current situation. She was accused of murdering the emperor of her kingdom, and Briar was accused of liquidating Countess Kellen
However, Briar noticed her father's expressions for most of the trial
He kept stealing glances at Eclair, blushing when she and him lock eyes and pretends to comfort Eletha to distract himself
Thinking back on how he's neglected her, Briar found a picture where her father and her mother were together all happy without worries
And by the looks of it, Eclair kinda does look like her mom-
Oh.
OH.
She suddenly has her eyes as wide as saucers
Like, she feels like she realized she JUST discovered something she shouldn't be aware of and she isn't even guilty about it
And everyone in the courtroom is just staring at her in confusion, cause-
Why is she suddenly spacing out???
But then as soon as Claudette calls out to Briar, asking if she's okay, she just stops spacing out and looks like a legitimately lost puppy
And everyone's like: 😀
SOME PEOPLE(aka the people with common sense), are literally questioning if she's actually guilty of these charges
Others are thinking she's putting up an act to make it seem like she's innocent when she really isn't
And there are those people who are just sleeping because by the seven why tf does a trial take so damn long??
And then the trial goes back to solemn and serious like this is an episode of daredevil-
And then the moment of truth
After all the evidence is cleared, Earl Rosella is still cautious cause not only does he want to serve as a judge of justice, but he also wants the money Eletha promised him since he's in her favor
But then he caught a glance at every Scepter Hall Institute staff member glaring him down like they're threatening him to call Briar guilty
With a sigh escaping his mouth, "With all things clear, it is shown that without a doubt... Briar Auroria is cleared of all charges and is innocent. However, I must make an announcement that Lady Eclair Ciana Hollow has been given full custody of Briar Auroria."
Silence
Just- literal silence, everyone couldn't speak
The only one who did was Meryl, doing a little happy dance now that Briar's her adoptive sister now
And everything after that went as you'd expect
Roland had been ridiculed by those in the kingdom for marrying someone like Eletha despite it being out of necessity and not love
Eletha had been imprisoned and was given a 16 year imprisonment
