WE’RE BACK!  And it was SPECTACULAR!  Definitely worth seeing.  We stopped at a big park in a little town in Idaho inside the “totality” area but a bit off the center line; just a smallish number of enthusiasts and lots of trees and lots of grass, and... it was just great!  Every five minutes or so we stepped out from under the trees and stared up through solar glasses as the world around us dimmed and dimmed and dimmed.  BUT:  when we reached totality, that was 1000x more spectacular yet.  It was like deep twilight, with a huge perfectly black moon, sharp edged and black, black, black, perfectly aligned with the sun, and surrounded by a gigantic corona... just heart stopping!  My badly exposed pictures don’t even begin to do it justice.

DEFINITELY worth a 9 hour drive up and a 9 hour drive (the next day) back.
