So my guess was correct, Amity and Hunter are two sides of the same coin.
Amity and Hunter both grew up thinking they needed to prove they were worthy of existing. Hunter, obviously to a more severe degree, but either way it’s really messed up.
Amity is 14. And she’s JUST now realizing that she doesn’t need to prove she’s worthy of existing not only to her abusive parents, but to Luz as well, someone who’s shown her nothing but love this entire show.
She was so happy to be with Luz, and couldn’t fathom disappointing her.
Dealing with abuse from her parents as long as she did, Amity threw all logic out the window when Hunter told her Luz might not be happy with her.
She misread the tamagotchi messages and thought Luz was threatening their relationship if she didn’t return with the titan’s blood, despite that being something Luz would NEVER do.
But she dealt with her abuse for 14 years. It’s hard to change your mindset so quickly when you have trauma that deep.
Hunter is 16, and was literally digging his own grave and like lowkey losing it thinking he couldn’t return to Belos unless he had titan’s blood. Because according to Belos, “it’d be a hassle to find a replacement”.

His ears look cut. Idk why he’d do that, but they’re much smaller and sharper looking than little every other witch’s ears.
Anyways
I’m scared now that Belos has titan’s blood, but Luz does too now. And at least Hunter has some to bring back so Belos won’t “replace” him yet.
This episode was a lot. I’m so worried for Hunter. I’m so worried for Luz.
And we’re pretty sure Hunter is a clone now right? After that frame of Belos’ book?
I’ve already seen a few theories that Belos might take over Hunter’s body, or that Hunter might die at the end of 2a or 2b, and I’m not sure what to think of them. I could see Hunter dying as a possibility, but I’m not sure how likely of a possibility it is exactly.
And we have yet to see Camilla in that room with the red strings on the wall or Luz in that lake. Which is weird, because we thought that would be shown in this episode. I wonder what it is then.
I’m not prepared for the hiatus that will follow but I know us fans will keep each other company with theories and art and memes
