Let's talk skin care.

If you check out my about page here  you can see a quick run down of my skin. 

Essentially I have mega oily, sensitive skin that is prone to scarring (hyperpigmentation) very easily and a few scattered breakouts.

Here is my naked face:

No make up. Freshly washed.

You can see the mark on my forehead. Basically, I had a rash, and it left one hell of a scar. You can't tell, but it is slightly textured and when it first scarred up was really black. 

I can't use lightening products with hydroquinone because it irritates my skin.

That being what it is, I have been using products and have seen some nice gradual results.

You also can't see I have dark marks on my chin because I pluck the hair there I get dark spots on my cheeks from random little pimples. I have some acne scarring as well.

This is the best my skin has ever looked in my life

So let's look at my current round up of products first and then we'll talk about what I think is more important than my products.

First up my cleansing/mask duo.  AND my beloved Clarisonic.

First let's talk about Eclos.

I was sent the cleanser, moisturizer and foundation primer via Klout for free to test out. Basically they are anti aging products based around their Apple Stem Cell formula. The cleanser is thorough but gentle, the smell of the products is slightly off putting at first. 

However I've been using the cleanser and moisturizer for a few months, and I can see a slight difference in my skin. My face is a bit smoother, and my makeup goes on easier.

The mask I just picked up and it's just okay. I probably won't rebuy. it is a bit thinner and more watery than I like a mud mask to be. It seems to work well.

These are good products. I do feel like using them together has helped even up my skin tone a bit and even helped my scar fade some.

So let's talk about that Clarisonic.

Full disclosure I was given this as a gift last year but I had been researching them for a while before that. First thing is they are expensive.

So is it worth it?

I am going to have to give a hell yes. I've tried hand held facial brushes, scrubs, special "miracle" (yeah I totally fell for it) supposed microdermabrasion towels, special sponges, special face towels and nothing has compared to the Clarisonic.

I"be used about four or five different cleansers and the one thing that has made even mediocre cleansers awesome is the Clarisonic.

I lost my old before pictures but let me tell you it has made a huge difference for me. I use it once a day with my cleanser. Right now I'm using the Acne prone brush. If you pick one up start with the sensitive skin and work up.

I'm also using some toning/exfoliating pad things.

The thing I like about these is that in the areas my face tends to peel during the season change are smooth. These are gentle enough for me to use daily and so far I like them. More info when I've used them for a couple of months.

I have a small amount of facial hair along my upper lip there. It's not much and I stopped using wax or chemicals and just snip hairs with tiny scissors. 

FYI my policy on reviewing skin care is to wait at least 2 months. If you are a person who has periods it is a good idea to give a product (barring inflammation, itching etc) at least two full menstrual cycles to see how it works. Also when trying out new stuff I don't suggest changing everything all at once especially if you have sensitive skin.

Add new products one at a time or so to give your skin a chance to adjust and react if it is going to react.
