Currently obsessed over Zitkala-Sa. Besides being really astonishingly photogenic for her time period—
—like, wow, what a baddie—
She also was a Yankton Dakota writer and activist who spoke out against Native abuse and women's inequality. Her essay, "Why I Am A Pagan," feels like it could have been written yesterday, and really resonates with me, personally.
She was such an intelligent writer and thinker who did so much in her relatively short life (died 1938 at 61). I encourage all to learn more about her and take some time to savor Nature today!
