The Straw Epic
Waitress refused to bring me a straw because it wasn't eco-friendly. Had to go walk over to the wait station to get one myself since my straw use is strongly dentist-recommended; I even explained this to her. I mean, giving it up willingly? Awesome! Hell, even offering folks the option to not use one with the explanation of it being an eco-friendly thing but not forcing it on them is cool. But straight up refusing to give them to people? Not cool. -_- (I can't use the reusable collapsible ones b/c of immuno things making me susceptible to stuff too easily, but I use biodegradable ones at home.)
UPDATE: She took my straw away when she refilled my drink. Congrats, Eco-Lady. Now I need to open another one, further polluting the Earth.
Also, I asked the hostess if I could talk to the manager and explained why. She said I was the fourth table to complain about her and the manager will talk to us. They're currently rearranging table allocations and are pulling her from duty.
RESOLUTION: (Go figure my day would include a Straw Epic) *At least something came out of this -- the manager learned about biodegradable straws and is now SUPER excited about them ^_^ *New waitress is a doll. *I hope other waitress feels better and I won't judge because life is hard and we don't know what's going on in her life and no I don't hope she's fired, just that she learned a lesson about how to approach this sort of thing. *Burger was freaking perfect.
