Since so much information online often centers the US here are some books about feminism in Canada that I've read and really enjoyed
The abortion caravan: When Women Took to the Streets, Shut Down the Government, and Battled for the Right to Choose - Karin Wells In 1969 the Canadian government amended the laws around abortion, this was presented as a move forward, however it only codified the way the existing law had been able to be upheld. Pregnant people were required to appear before a "therapeutic abortion committee" (which hospitals were not required to have) to plead their case for why they needed an abortion. Most were still denied. A group of grassroots feminists joined together and drove across Canada holding demonstrations on their way to Ottawa to shut down parliament and demand accessible abortions on demand.
Heros in my head: a memoir - Judy Rebick This is a memoir primarily focused on the author's dissociative identity disorder, however Judy Rebick is a women's rights activist and so the memoir also includes mentions of the organizations and actions she was involved with, including shielding Dr Henry Morgentaler from an attempted stabbing with garden shears. TW for mentions of CSA and incest
No choice: Canadian women tell their stories of illegal abortion -the child birth by choice trust A collection of stories written and sent in describing the writer's experiences with illegal abortions in Canada from as early as 1909 to 1969. Each story varies greatly and it's a great reminder of what we can not allow to become the norm again.
Runaway Wives and Rogue Feminists: The Origins of the Women's Shelter Movement in Canada - Margo Goodhand The history of creating the first women's shelters in Canada. Today many take for granted that these resources are government funded, but in the beginning it was women who joined together and created them despite societal pushback against them. They worked at times for free or for low wages, and they built the system as they went.
More under the cut that I haven't read yet but have had on my TBR:
