Curieux ce lien qui nous unit. Il n'y a pas de manque et en même temps il y comme un besoin, un besoin de je ne sais quoi. Ni de toi ni de moi juste un besoin de Nous.

Tu ne me manques pas mais quelque chose en moi semble avoir besoin de toi tout en sachant se passer de toi. C'est comme un point où se rejoignent tous les contraires.

Je suis perturbée par cette sensation étrangère.

he hardly recalls the journey upstairs. (his feverish cheek pressed close to woods’ neck. arms hung limp and achy about his shoulders.) the idea of a plush bed and his stuffed animals cants his mouth. it’s a feeble smile, diminished by his ill state, but a smile all the same. 

art will have to wait. when he’s well again, he can create, he can write. he remembers reading something someplace. how artists need their rest. or perhaps it was woods who uttered such knowledge? 

his bedroom door creaking open breaks his nebulous trance. woods lowers him into his blankets, fixes the rumpled collar of his pajama shirt. the gesture, however minor, lulls august. his head dips into the pillow. everything inches by at a snail’s pace. careful footsteps. a drawer opening. rustling paper and brushes and pencils. before long, his half-lidded eyes slide closed. you didn’t have to do that, he thinks, i can clean my own room. 

his full heart overpowers his clouded thoughts. he mumbles a congested, “ love you, w’sie. ”

     ‘ your love, ’ she says, hand hidden behind her back. its twin, empty and unsuspicious, moves to take hold of woods’ arm. ‘ ... left these in my bathroom. ’ unnecessarily suspenseful, she releases him only after depositing one glittering ring, one glittering earring, and one crumpled dollar bill into his captive hand.

i must ask unprompted hc question: what was vfk like in his Youth

           Trouble! And he’ll admit it too. Straightup, kids like him were the reason they invented the word ‘delinquent’. He was the little shit who broke your window. 

           I guess VFK’s school experience is pretty interesting because almost never showed up! And when he was actually there, he was selling single cigarettes he took from his mom’s purse. Unsurprisingly, he got suspended a lot, got a girl pregnant at prom because they heard you couldn’t get pregnant the first time, and skipped town.

           As a teenager, he smoked a hell of a lot of weed, a hobby he only occasionally gets up to these days having mostly stopped smoking it way later when he got out of 8 years of prison (and great hash) in his thirties. He started drinking and getting tattoos pretty young too, and was down to steal beer from convenience stores with his pals. Hell, he’d steal anything that wasn’t bolted down, and would still try even if it was. I’m talking bikes, road signs, parking meters, shopping carts, motel TVs, traffic cones, change from payphones and vending machines.... If it could be grabbed, permanently borrowed, or pried out with a crowbar, he’d give it a shot.

           He’s always had sticky fingers. And he’s always been a smooth talker and a risk-taking guy. But a lot of the finesse definitely came with time. And with getting caught.
