Sometimes it's hard to believe he used to not be able to walk. He still got that wonky front leg that was broken, but the boy can zoom for a buggy.

I finally got Ed switched to loose substrate, after over a year of planning to! It's a mix of sifted soil, play sand, and exo terra clay. He can dig now! And it'll be better for his joints, as it's softer to walk & land on than even the padded mat we were using.
He's still observing from a branch perch for now, but he stepped on it with no problem to eat a palm leaf. And as usual, he was calm & interested while watching the entire process. 😂 He's honestly the chillest boy.
I'm still planning to make him a bioactive in the taller viv we have, but who knows how long that will take me. So this is still a step forward in the meantime!
Ed had a good day yesterday! He got 3 big roaches, then when I tried to put him in with his salad, he informed me he wasn't done with out time tyvm. So he got to go out in the front yard & check out the driveway. 😂 I should've put his harness on (next time!), he did a big zoomy after several minutes & got Scooped. But he was okay chilling on my shoulder for a bit while I chatted with neighbor.

It feels like such an Animal Person thing to be so satisfied about achieving Healthy Poop in your pet. I have Ed's basking spot actually on lock now, so his poop is well formed, not watery, no undigested bits, he's well hydrated & healthy, it's easy to clean up.... very satisfying!! I did spare you all a picture at least. 😂
I got Ed's new FaunaLux bulb today & set it up immediately!! This one gives off a section of UVA that isn't currently in any of the LED or reptile lights available otherwise (though there is another light coming out soon that is similar). And with the added light, I managed to hit 28-30k LUX for his basking spot!!
Immediately after turning the light on, Ed is more alert, quicker in his reactions, and his enclosure now looks a lot different to him - he's been examining everything since the light went on! His beard has been bright orange too, showing he's alert & interested!
I'm very excited & happy that we got him during a period where reptile research is giving us so much better info on how to take care of these guys, and we have companies working to give us the right equipment to provide better homes for them.
Ed got a new harness for adventures!
All the animal room boys made me happy today. Ed was slightly worrying me by staying in his hide the past couple days, but he came out today & ate half his salad on his own. He got 4 small roaches as a reward, basked, and is back up on his normal branch.
Jack gave Spoon a bowl of worms tonight & Spoon absolutely smelled the mealworms and came zooming out going !!!!! I SMELL THEM GIMME !!!!!! He still wouldn't come to the bowl until we moved away, but it was so nice to see him go nuts over them again. We're gonna weigh him this weekend - he lost fully half his weight in torpor this winter, from 200g down to 100g. It's still a safe enough lower weight & he seems fine, but that was a huge drop & we were a bit alarmed!
And Posy was thrilled to get his yard greens, which is still always cute to watch. He ate oats from Joel's hand, which delighted them both. And the big box of orchard hay I ordered came today, so I put a BIG pile in & Posy thought it was basically Christmas.
