Today I will be featuring the Severin Blu-ray release of The Sadist Of Notre Dame. It may seem like I’m beating a dead horse but this film differs from Ripper Of Notre Dame which is more like Demoniac. Sadist has a run time of 99 minutes and Ripper states 87 minutes. I’ll have to compare Ripper and Demoniac for myself at a later time. Sadist is the 1979 Redux of Exorcism. I also covered Sexorcisime on a past Friday. It hardly needs to be said that picture quality is vastly superior on the new Blu-ray than the EDDE Video copy on VHS. Even though it doesn’t fit the Paris setting of Sadist, I enjoyed the Spanish audio track because it was great to hear Franco voice his own character instead of a dub as we often hear him. In an included special feature my favorite film historian and genre champion Stephen Thrower discusses a conversation he had with Jess about the opening scene in Sadist not seen in other versions. Apparently this was Jess’s favorite of the film as it sets the tone and shows the viewer the destitute life of the priest character Jess plays.

I’m not sure where this ugly zombie hails from but it sure isn’t this film.

I think the VHS glitch just prior to the new Zombie 4 title card is further evidence that EDDE Entertainment/ T-Z Video just used the Wizard Video VHS as their master.
