you know i really like that claude and edelgard kind of reflect each other. like claude gets edelgard. he understands what she's doing. he also thinks that rhea is better off dead (or at least not in charge anymore) and really the only thing he can't see eye to eye with edelgard is her methods because claude is idealistic.
he knows the price of war but he'd prefer not to pay it. he would rather not sacrifice anyone in service of his dream, even if he knows it's inevitable. (his dialogue vs. edelgard really sticks with me for this reason)

Emperor of Adrestia

I don't hate Edelgard. Her route and classmates are my favourite.
I think she's genuinely kind, struggles to create and maintain friendships because of trust issues built from a traumatic childhood but tries anyway, has great tastes in food and flowers, cares for others in a selfless way, can be very relatable at times, tragic in a way that makes you want to give her a hug, and has the capacity to be a good leader. She also looks great in red.
I also think she's short-sighted, stubborn, arrogant, has a saviour complex, impulsive, can't take criticisms to her face which is why most of it is done behind her back, takes things way too far, and is easily manipulated. I also happen to think her actions get excused too much because her reasons for doing it are understandable or because those actions are based in "good intentions."
Both things can be true at once.
for those wondering what i've been up to
coming soon
@tickle-fight-club THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE COMM!!!!
I've always thought Byleth's outfit in the game was weird lol. Everyone has pretty reasonable designs, and then there's her with her tummy window that screams "stab me here" and her stripperiffic leggings.
Well, thankfully for us that fashion fail leaves her deathzone right open for tickles. And maybe for the sake of her sanity and survival she should have agreed to do the Emperor's paperwork ;]
So… it’s been a while… I forgot about this account and I feel bad so here is so much Edeleth content you might throw up… anyways, if you want to see more or just my posts in general go follow my TikTok @anime.show.watche for more
An ill-fitting throne, like an ill-fitting crown
When I was last playing Three Houses, I was struck again by how small Byleth looks, seated on Sothis's throne:
They just look so fantastically unfitting for the throne.
Female Byleth can't even touch her heels to the ground, and while male Byleth can do that much, the arm rests are too far apart for him to use them properly, and he visibly has to sit so far forward that he can't rest his back against the back of the throne, either.
A pretty common theory is that Sothis was huge when she was alive, and aside from just the sheer size of the throne this is supported by, of all the grotesque things, the Sword of the Creator itself:
It's pretty easy to infer that the serrated portion of the blade was crafted from Sothis's spine. A person's spine generally constitutes 25% of their total height, and the Sword of the Creator is huge, especially compared to Female Byleth:
With Byleth being 5'4'', Sothis could easily be between seven and eight feet tall. She'd easily dwarf everyone else in the game, including Dedue and Nemesis.
Where am I going with this?
Byleth not being big enough to sit properly upon Sothis's throne is symbolic in a way: they're being pressed into a position that doesn't suit them. Just look at how uncomfortable and uncertain they seem, particularly female Byleth.
