Edge 102 announces new Morning Show

EDGE has a morning show. And they didn't have to look too far.

The new morning trio will consist of station vet Josie Dye, who has fronted the mid-day show for a decade, Edge evening guy, Greg Beharrell and anchor Dominik Diamond. Who? Diamond is a 44-year old Scot import who hosted game shows in the UK back in the 90s. Most recently, Diamond was on Edge sister-station Q107, but left Toronto last year to help launch adult alternative,  Radio 96.5 Halifax. 

Fearless Fred will be returning to his drive show duties with new co-host, Melanie Mariani. 

March 31 is when the changes take place. It'll also be the day when Edge returns to a more music format after canning the talk-oriented morning show back in January.

Billie to Edge Mornings? Todd to Virgin Drive?

We might have a winner for the new co-host of the Edge morning show. On the heels of the departure of long time Dean Blundell tag partner, Todd Shapiro  in July, the station has been doing on-air auditions for the new Blundell sidekick. But it's been former member of the Madd Dogg and Billie show, Billie Holiday who has been winning all the rounds. 

Is she the next host? 

Looks like she will be. This is interesting. 

When her show with Jay "Madd Dogg" Michaels were at their peak, Blundell took daily jabs at the duo and claimed they stole his show material. Guessing all has been forgotten as the two seem to be getting along fabulously. 

The addition of the tame Billie (nee Amanda Dunn) could satisfy the big boys who recently give Dean Blundell and his show stern warnings about his show topics. However, would it satisfy Blundell listeners? The show has since been criticised of being too boring since Shapiro packed up. 

Where's Todd? Check Virgin. Industry whispers say he's set to become the next drive-home guy. 99.9 has been taking out ads in radio papers and even job sites looking for a new drive host, so it won't be too far fetched that Todd takes over that seat come fall.

                After a bunch of mutter this week on the interweb, EDGE morning man Dean Blundell made it official yesterday morning by addressing the Where is Todd Situation.  "A lot of you people have been asking about what's going on with Todd and where he is". Said Blundell in the last few minutes of his morning show, Wednesday. "I'm sad to say no longer with the show, leaving the morning show team here at the EDGE". Some say the hosts had a falling out last week and Todd packed his bags. Others blame a July 17th ruling from Canadian Broadcast Standards Council that got the popular morning run in serious doodoo. Blundell hasn't said anything else on the matter except for the fact that he'll be getting a new co-host this fall and urging listeners via Twitter that the show is for them. "The show is about you folks", he Tweeted. "Not any one person. We reflect your day and life and if you've all trusted me for 13 years don't stop". He continued, "Its our privilege  to do this for and with you everyday. I'm stoked to grow. You deserve our best and I guarantee you'll get it.."

Todd Gone from EDGE morning Show

Todd Shapiro has left the Dean Blundell Morning Show. This is on the heals after the show got rid of another long time morning show member, Jason Barr and a week after the station canned program director, Ross Winters. Shapiro joined EDGE back in 2001 along with another newcomer, Dean Blundell, to form the long running morning show after Humble and Fred took to AM640 Mojo Radio.  Is Dean the next to Go? Stay tuned.
