ryan didn’t remember the last time he had woke up and thought about anything other than pete.

maybe it was the drugs. maybe it was the manipulation. maybe it was the brainwashing. he didn’t know. he didn’t necessarily want to either.

at first glance, anyone would assume that they were a couple and ryan was the clingy one. he was always at pete’s feet, like a pathetic kicked puppy that came back no matter how many times he was hit. because that’s what he, at least, thought what love was.

and that’s what pete made him believe. ryan didn’t like believing anything that didn’t come from pete’s mouth. so he stuck by it—letting pete hit him, take his anger out on him, rape him until he passed out, and other “heinous” acts he was also taught to believe was love.

so he had learned to love the bruises pete put on him, his pale skin adorned with angry purple and red marks, and sometimes even cuts or scratches. he liked watching his dark, wine red blood trickle down his arm, followed by pete’s tongue licking it up like it’s divine nectar.

he had learned to love being isolated and only belonging to pete. being starved for days until his bones were visible through his pretty, [almost] translucent skin.

he hadn’t seen the light of day for months unless it was a feeble strip of sunlight that filtered through the blinds and burned his skin, albeit that was rare too. and so, he avoided that too. pushed down the thought of freedom; feeling the grass between his toes, sinking his teeth into a filling pastry, or feeling the full sun on his skin. because he was better off with pete—in this dark, messy house, with barely any food. right?

ryan had let go of all efforts and plans to escape or call for help long ago. pete had brainwashed him multiple times, treating him like a puppet. because the more ryan surrendered, the easier it was for pete to get under his skin and into his mind like a parasite. the cycle was everlasting.
