Nalu Love Fest 2016:
Bonus Prompt: Sweet/Rough
Pairing: Edolas Natsu and Lucy
Rating- All Ages
- A few Days Late and Very Short- but Here we go! I wanted this prompt to be a little different. Sorry it was late!
---
They both had two sides to their constant flipping coin.
She- usually a never ending bolt of energy and life, bursting through all problems with the skin of her fists and venom on her tongue; and He- a quiet hidden gem lost through fears and doubts crippling his spine.
This combination seemed so far off the mark that none could truly know just how the puzzle pieces of their souls could fit together so easily despite the curves and edges that made them. She was rough, he was sweet- and no one in the known realm could understand it when they saw it. Not even they could explain a bond felt so strong, but couldn’t name or even take out into the open.
No- it just stayed hidden, buried under her metallic taste and his simpering whines. Collecting dust: it was left untouched, ready to waste away- but forever staying strong.
And then it all flips.
She- suddenly worried, concerned, fear and pain in her eyes. All those years of building her barriers and staying strong, melting down in just a few rare moments. Her rough adversity sanded down to bare bones to reveal the broken woman hiding inside of her. And he- in the safety of his own zone, behind the wheel of a fast moving car, suddenly in control and command of his life.
His confident smirk was both her downfall and her frustration. Her shattered soul, his secret treasure to find and slowly glue back together. They weren’t perfect, and differences made it near impossible to move forward. Yet they did. His hands were her secret braces when the world felt just too much. Her pride and independence were his backbone when he had none.
Flip the coin- then flip it all again- push and pull, give and take, scream and cry. Though it seemed they were never on the same page, their life was theirs and theirs alone and that’s all it took for them to withstand the world.
....I'm cheating but I don't really care. The prompt is birthday but I'm using the story I used as a headcanon for the anniversary of their meeting. If I remembered correctly, Roxy never gave her Lucy a birthday unless I forgot it, so I'm claiming that day as the birthday....plus my Natsu's birthday is Sunday and I'm tooooo lazy to make a prompt on that haha. So here's my edolas twist on NaLu part one:
“I still don’t see why you insist on seeing her this early in the day,” Igneel said with a small hint of annoyance in his voice. Natsu had to practically beg his father to leave the house on this blustery day. For some reason the man wasn’t very fond of windy weather for whatever reason that was. “Don’t you realize no one goes out to bars this early.”
“I-I-I know Igneel-san,” Natsu replied as he wrapped his scarf tighter around his neck to shield himself from the wind. Really, he didn’t as he knew nothing about bars but he did what he could to make his father happy.”B-b-but I have to give this gift to Lucy-chan. It’s im-important.”
“Didn’t I tell you to stop calling me Igneel-san?” The man let out a small sigh as the boy nodded in agreement. Suddenly a smirk came to his face as he heard his son’s other words. “Important for your girlfriend, eh?”
The boy blushed slightly at his father’s suspicion but quickly shook his head. “N-n-no! Sh-she’s not my girlfriend! It-it’s just important.”
The man chuckled, stopping in front of their destination before ruffling the boy’s hair making it even more spikier. ”Relax, kid. You know I’m only teasin’ ya, right? Besides,” he paused, opening the door so he and Natsu could enter. “This will allow me to get a drink to warm myself up from this weather. Now, go on and find your girlfriend.”
“Sh-sh-she’s not my-” But it was no use as Igneel had already found himself at the bar and Natsu knew he would be out of touch for the time being. Sighing, the boy began to make his way down the familiar hallway. He knew Mak didn’t like for him to be sneaking around the place but it was for a good cause. Finally, he reached the room he had been looking for, spotting the blonde haired girl sliently sleeping on the spare bed. A small smile came to his face and he walked up to her, shaking her ever so lightly.
“Lucy-chan,” he whispered in hopes of waking her. He was greeted by an answer as the girl’s hand swatted him across the face leaving him with a sting. Rubbing at his cheek, he heard her let out a yawn and watched her stretch and rubbed her eyes.
“Oi,” she said with a scowl only to freeze at the sight of the boy. “Natsu! What the hell are you doing here?”
“W-w-wait Lucy-chan!” he quickly objected as he held up his arms for protection. “I-I-I brought you a gift.” Hesitantly he pulled the black box out from his pocket and placed it on the bed in front of her. He then began to cower as he lowered himself to the floor, gazing up at her curiously as he waited for her response.
“What is it?” she questioned after opening it, finding two metal strips tied to a chain.
“I-i-it’s a necklace!” he exclaimed, jumping up from his place. “Today is the day th-that we became friends last year, Lucy-chan.” He grinned at this. “I-I put two of them because I learned we both have two personalities. I was a di-different person on my bike when I saved you than wh-what I am now an-and I know you can be nice too. D-d-do you like it?”
Lucy stared at the necklace one more, glancing up at him before turning her head away. “Hmph,” she said with a scowl. “That’s a stupid reason to give a person a gift.”
“Oh…”
“Natsu!”
The children both looked up at the sound of the voice they both recognized. An annoyed look came to Lucy’s face as she pictured the man’s face. “C-coming Igneel-san!” Natsu called. He looked back at Lucy once more before giving her a small wave as he left. “I-I’m sorry about the gift, Lucy-chan.”
“Yeah you better be!” she called after him as he left. Once she was sure the boy was gone her eyes traveled back down towards the necklace. A smile, one that wasn’t knew by many, came to her as she held in her hands and clasped it around her neck. She held the two charms in her palm for a moment, gazing down at them as her voice came out in a whisper, “Because it’s fucking perfect.”
