NYCC 2025: Disney Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas Debuts a Trick-or-Treating Epic in a New Comic Series - Graphic Policy

The enigmatic Dr. Finkelstein, Sally's creator, has another creation in the works.

Some news today of Dynamite Entertainment's previously-promised TNBC project being written by Torunn Grønbekk, estimated to release in January!

"Across four fabulous issues, fans can dive deeper into Halloween Town with this unforgettable trick-or-treating tale, perfect for all ages, featuring the likes of Sally and the mischievous trio of Lock, Shock, and Barrel. The enigmatic Dr. Finkelstein, Sally’s creator, has another creation in the works. When he debuts an unusual, yet unexpectedly adorable creature as a new pet, Sally is tasked with taking care of it. Only for the three resident trick-or-treaters of Halloween Town to have it in tow as they embark on their journey to Christmas Town."

However...with my keen TNBC eye, I've noticed that some of the official comic artwork looks traced or heavily referenced from the movie. I even recognize the scenes where the stills came from. Wondering why the artists chose to take a lazy route with quite a bit of these panels so far, hoping the rest of the comic looks more originally-drawn..!

In an effort to make their pranks extra lifelike and terrifying, they decide to “borrow” some ingredients from Dr. Finkelstein’s lab — and end up with much more than they bargained for in the form of the deceptively adorable Shiver!

Dynamite Entertainment has announced a new The Nightmare Before Christmas tale. Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas: The Shiver of Christmas Town hails from writer Torunn Grønbekk, artist Edu Menna, colorist Adriano Augusto, and letterer Taylor Esposito.
