Mothers Day with the squad wasn't too bad! We celebrated by participating in a lunch made by Ukrainians that are staying in our town (at the place where I've volunteer - I sort food parcels and put stock away) and trying their dishes! The food was delicious - in particular I enjoyed their borscht & the various sweet cakes they made (they made loads!) If you swipe you'll see a giant bear that appeared and was dancing to Ukrainian music - loved it. Random but made my day ngl. I'd never seen a bear raving, you had to be there.
I always try and go to community events with the fam - I'm not 'into God' but over the years I've met such a variety of people through local shindigs - yes my face has major Resting B*tch Face for the entirety of these events.
On Friday Winnies reception class did a 'Mothers Day Afternoon Tea' where the kids sang songs and we ate the jam, butter and scones they made. Even the butter was made into heart shapes 🥺
Winnie then presented me with her card and a daffodil with a note that said "I love my mummy because she puts the Minecraft blanket on me" - which I thought was hilarious as it's the bare minimum requirement she loves apparently (tbf it was a new blanket 😂) but Oscars said (when he was in Reception) "I love my mum as she makes me sandwiches." These are definitely my children. Little things like that I find so endearing.
Mothers Day can be a difficult day for many and I hope you have support you need, lots of families are far more complex than we see with the naked eye.
I know I'm fortunate to have three healthy children and I don't always appreciate what I have, sure they challenge me and I know my life is mundane as f*ck to many - lets be honest I'm not travelling the globe and I haven't any career goals (I just want the cash, a job is a job) yet I have 3 children who are so entirely different in their ways and I wouldn't change it (I sound so cliché) My eldest and I have been through alot, she's had her losses same as I and she's independent and stubborn. My middle child is my mamas boy, he's bright and kind. My youngest is my little 'princess' she's caring and creative. They are my giant pet sperm. My cadbury selection box.
