I’m a little embarrassed that even after Sterling mentioned that Egaeus was Berenice’s cousin, it took me a moment or two to finally recognise who he was from Berenice’s short story

thinking thinking,,, keep thinking,,,,
so imagine the bathroom boys become something more than just background characters and the main cast actually starts interacting with them and it's basically just "why do you look like him"
Duke: You look like the guy who killed me.
Will: You look like the guy who probably killed me.
Berenice: You look like the guy who killed our sugar daddy.
Bathroom boys: what
how egaeus caused berenice’s death
let’s start off with the simple, there’s a theory that everyone in nevermore was betrayed and it led to their death.
now, if we compare the flashbacks, berenice’s outfits are pretty similar. they’re not the exact same but very close. the color and pearl necklace look the same so therefore it makes sense to assume that she died after the party.
when egaeus killed sterling, berenice was in disbelief, but knowing her she did not stay silent. berenice is not the type of person to stay quiet because she fears what would happen to her and she would not want to be an accomplice.
my theory is that she ran away to tell the police and that egaeus chased her. directly or not, he led to her death. he either pushed her onto the road, chased her until she ran into the busy road or paid someone to run her over (i’ve seen people theorize this but i don’t think it’s that, just thought i would mention it).
then, when a guy is recounting what happened to the police, we do not get to see his face. it could just be a random person but i have reason to believe it’s egaeus making a story up.
if berenice were going directly to the police, it wouldn’t be logical for her to walk with someone else and “dart all of a sudden” as she would probably be running the whole time.
but the biggest thing for me is that when berenice died, the creators make it a point to show berenice’s bloody teeth. it could just be a stylistic choice but if we go off of edgar allan poe’s story, egaeus had a strange obsession with berenice’s teeth.
for this reason, i think the bloody teeth are a way of showing his relation to her death. the teeth being out of her mouth is him winning because he got what he wanted from her.
Also as if these two aren't the definition of bi panic-
i know what is supposed to be the deal with berenice and ageaus but naaaaaahh
this isn't romance this is lesbian/gay solidarity
More Nevermore headcanons because they’re fun to write (family edition)
Prospero’s mother is who encouraged him to become a doctor, and she bought him a book on genetic conditions he treasured until death
Lenore really did have a cousin. His name was Lawrence, which is why Ira believed her so easily. He assumed he’d just misheard Lawrence’s name
Annabel Lee’s mother would have loved Lenore
Pluto’s mother got his father interested in Roman mythology
She died during childbirth, making his father think Pluto was an appropriate name
He was actually a good parent for a while, Pluto started noticing how odd his father was when he was around 13
Eulalie had younger twin brothers
Berenice and Egaeus were always close, leading to them meeting Sterling and then killing him. She was then so worried about them being discovered as murderers that she cut out almost everyone in her family
Duke was an orphan and people saw him as much sadder and smaller because of it, so he started his act to “prove himself”
Will had a dog. It ran away when he was 15
Montressor’s father was a mostly normal guy, apart from his cult-leader wife. He went ‘missing’ before Monty was old enough to remember him and was always told he was a coward and left them
Morella had three younger siblings who she was in charge of most of time. Her parents were hardworking, and therefore kind of absent. She doesn’t hold it against them
Ada was the second-oldest child of five and was often forgotten about.
YESSS I CAN FINALLY DROP THESE SCREENSHOTS BASICALLY HERES ME EXPLAINING THE NEW EP TO MY FRIEND WHO DOESNT READ NEVERMORE
HOPE THIS HELPS YOU UNDERSTAND IT BETTER😍🎀✨
Nevermore and Midsummer Night’s Dream Connections
ok maybe these are obvious but i have some reasons why egaeus may have had part in berenice’s death.
so in episode 126 berenice is dressed as titania, the queen of fairies and egaeus is dresses as oberon, the king of fairies. sterling is meant to represent the character bottom, who gets turned into a donkey by puck, oberon’s servant. initially oberon sent puck to put a spell on titiania to make her fall in love with the first person she sees. puck messes around and turns bottom into a donkey then makes titania fall in love with bottom. if rnf wanted to connect them maybe berenice doesn’t really like egaeus but egaeus is obsessed with her, just like in poe’s story. after berenice showed that when she got upset that sterling cut things off and then egaeus killed him, he became frustrated just like oberon did when he found titania in love with bottom. another connection is that there is a character named egeus is the play also. he is hermia’s father. since the story is set in athens, fathers own their daughters and when hermia doesn’t want to marry the suitor he picked, she can either die or become a nun. maybe in nevermore egaeus is just as controlling and when berenice doesn’t pick him, he sets up her death.
i hope that made sense
