Shadow the Hedgehog (2005) 19th anniversary!
here's some art of Shadow VS Egg Dealer at Lava Shelter to celebrate :D
Shadow has two forms unique to him but nobody ever talks about them
Hero Shadow and Dark Shadow
Gameplay wise, they fill up via the Hero or Dark Gauge
Hero Gauge fills up when Shadow attacks the Black Arms and their containers and plants, extinguishing fires and revives GUN agents and their machinery
Dark Gauge fills up when Shadow attacks GUN soldiers and machinery, damages nature, vandalizes, breaths in dark mist and revives Black Arms and Eggman's robots
canonically, they're activated when Shadow has thoughts of Justice (Hero) and Vengeance (Dark)
Both forms make Shadow invincible give him infinite ammo for his weapons
Hero Shadow can fly and has unlimited Chaos Control, allowing him to slow down time
Dark Shadow allows him to use Chaos Blast
For unknown reasons, one of the Egg Dealer's slot options is a move called Shadow Fever, which instantly transforms Shadow into Dark Shadow
Eggman's Shadow Androids are also capable transforming into Hero and Dark forms
Alright doc, I've gotta know. What's up with the Egg Dealer?
I like gambling, I like casinos, I like slots. I thought it would be fun to incorporate into a mech with the thrill of not knowing what I'm going to get and letting it decide for me with whatever it lands on and it was. And it's designed to resemble my face, so that makes it even better. It's very impressive and I don't understand why it gets so much judgement!
I've heard that people wonder why I gave it the feature of Shadow Fever. It was for my Shadow androids and the real Shadow, with the idea that he'd be on my side after I convinced him that I was his creator. Duh!
The nerve they have to insult my intelligence for that when they can't work that one out! But I can understand why they were unable to think of such a genius design choice themselves when they don't have an IQ of 300 like me!
But unfortunately, Shadow defied my orders, turned against me and destroyed all the androids in my Lava Shelter before reaching me, so none of that went as planned and it's all Shadow's fault.
As for the way the prize goes to the one that pushes the buttons and lands a turn first, meaning Shadow could interrupt and beat me to the roll and use it against me and made it fire the missiles and drop the bombs on myself... Well, I hadn't exactly anticipated THAT part... I figured it'd be fast enough to stay away from him if I just keep moving.
But it still had a ton of potential and if I'd fixed that, it would've been unstoppable!
Fuck marry kill
Cubot, Scratch, Egg Dealer
Fuck Scratch, marry Cubot, kill the Egg Dealer
I encourage anyone who sees this to answer this as well
Hangin with the rad crew today! 😉
looking for good Egg Dealer refs as I draw and remembered how funny the model rip and t pose is lmfao
his fucking power
at full length its legs are actually long as fuck like the daddy long legs who created it
if Eggman had fully extended its legs and stood it on the wheels like this while asserting dominance with a t pose, nobody would make fun of this boss. he wouldn't have been killed by Shadow 3/4 times because he wouldn't dare to fuck with this display of such power and dominance in the first place lol
I'm the defender of the Egg Dealer I think the concept is silly and cute just like Eggman himself and despite his genius, it's also so him to create something that's just so silly and nonsensical sometimes if he's possibly just focused on the fun of it instead of practicality hfhshbgksbg
Sure it really wasn't the right mech to bring out in such serious situations, especially not after the more appropriate Egg Breaker but still, let my man have his fun with his slot machine bot. He thought it was so cool and he's right I support and appreciate it and him having fun lol
It's not great to have a robot where odds can be against him if someone else lands it but he was probably just focused on how fun it'd be to have slots decide his attack. Though he did put buttons on the outside for any person to press so maybe he really likes the gamble... with life this time, it might be thrilling XD
And as for Shadow fever, I have the idea that he made it for his androids and was trying to find a way to replicate chaos abilities like Shadow's Control and Blast, unfortunately he hadn't even replicated spear genuinely at the time as the androids just shoot missiles but hey he was hoping for it eventually
I mean he curiously knew the gas in the Black Arms temples in Sky Troops would increase dark gauge and taint souls with evil and was super into it, so maybe he'd been using what he learned there for the Shadow fever and for the process of finding a way to give his androids the abilities in the first place
And when he did figure that out, then he'd have Shadow fever to simultaneously fill all his androids around with dark gauge to give them Chaos Blast at once and have them all activate it at the same time and blow up everyone and everything lmfao it would be so epic.
I like to think Eggman had The Vision but the timing wasn't great as he didn't have all his androids ready and the execution wasn't the best in how he went about the slots. But yeah it's funny and cool and shows a bit of his love for casino/gambling stuff which I always like to see :D and it had the potential!
I got a heart shaped cake pan for christmas (🥳) & every single day since then I've been fighting the urge to make a giant heart shaped brownie
Realistically the only thing stopping me is that I'm out of eggs at the moment, & my top baking secret is to use duck eggs instead of chicken eggs (tastes better/richer that way). Problem is, duck eggs are incredibly hard to find unless you basically have an egg dealer or something &, alas, my usual egg dealer doesn't have them in stock right now. So now my baking ventures are at the mercy of ducks & their butts
