Charizard and other Pokemon show that being a dragon and being a Dragon-type are not one and the same. This means that, if done correctly, we can have dragons that are not Dragon-type and vice versa. This line was originally based on the idea of a dragon getting stuck in its egg, a la Togepi, therefore locking it out of its draconic potential. Admittedly, though, the design’s coloration and anatomy lends more towards a dinosaurian influence, but what’re you going to do?
