The caterpillars are initially cream and very hairy. As they grow older, they become black with branched hairs. Their heads are dark brown and have a pair of long branched spines. During the day, the caterpillars will hide on the ground amongst debris, but at night they are voracious eaters and will consume the whole plant before looking for more.

The caterpillars feed on various plants from the Acanthaceae family including:

Pseuderanthemum variabile “Love Flower”

Asystasia gangetica “Coromandel”

Graptophyllum pictum “Caricature Plant”
