It’s not even my country but I really don’t think social media should be restricted by law. It’s the parents’ and schools’ job to protect their kids by teaching internet safety and encouraging them not to do things they will regret later in the future. Despite that, though, I’ve made some pretty good friends through the internet. Even my best friends irl and I have bonded through that shit. It’s a privilege to be able to connect with people around the literal world, and being able to do so also contributes to media literacy and awareness to outside of your bubble. Being able to talk to people and converse with them doesn’t JUST come from real life. It also comes from learning what people are interested in these days and how they use that to connect with others, as well as learning how they talk in general. Plus, it just makes information easier to control, and teens more likely to rebel against regulations and find ways around them. As all internet censorship/restrictions do.
