she’d been sitting on their house for a while, spying under the guise of many forms and muddied by the scent of animal blood. it was just plain luck the coven defender would find her here in the town; that, or the vampires were smarter than she gave them credit for. an honest mistake but regardless she considered the hulking vampire no threat. moby was certain she was just as strong and had double the sharp teeth. “i’m aware this town is your family’s territory. i’m only passing through but if you insist i skip a few meals, all you have to do is ask nicely. unless you prefer a fight?”

     NUMBER   ONE,   WITHOUT   A   DOUBT,   IS   HIS   FOREHEAD.   which  sounds  super  weird,  i  know,  but  listen.  edward  is  all  about  intimacy  above  sexual  actions,  and  the  forehead,  he  -  at  least  -  views  it  as  an  incredibly  intimate  place,  because  it’s  not  the  sort  of  place  that  someone  will  touch  on  accident.  but  other  places  where  edward  is  sensitive  include  :  the  small  of  his  back,  the  nape  of  his  neck,  the  point  just  beneath  his  ear  where  his  jaw  meets  his  neck,  and  his  belly  button.  but  absolutely  none  of  those  places  compare  to  his  forehead.  if  he  was  a  human,  a  kiss  to  the  forehead  would  make  his  heart  race  and  his  skin  tingle.

𝐒𝐎𝐌𝐄 𝐆𝐔𝐘𝐒 𝐏𝐋𝐀𝐘𝐄𝐃 𝐏𝐎𝐊𝐄𝐑 .He,  Emmett  and  Jasper  normally played  poker  and  then  went  hunting  .  His  fangs  RETRACTED  from  the  mountain lion  in  front  of  him  ,  a  bit  of  blood  dripping down  his  chin  in  time  to  listen to  Emmett  .  Too  close  to what  he  had  told  Bella  ,  yet  she  still  wanted  to  be  prey  .    ❝  King  of  the  WORLD too  ,  right  Em  ?  ❞  he  teased  .  

Edward  leaned back,  dropping  the  carcass  on  the  ground, wiping  his  mouth  with  the  back  of  his  hand  .  ❝  We  are  though –  aren’t  we  ?  I  don’t  get  it  ,  not  at  all  Emmett.  .  .  she  thinks  it’s  cute  or  something  ,  ❞  he  sighed  ,  his  other  hand  moved  to  run  through  his  hair  .  If  his  hair  hadn’t been  strong  ,  he  would  have  been  bald  by  now  with  this  situation .  The  week  in  Denali hadn’t  helped  .

No longer a slave to the Volturi it was time to face his fear. Finally making a show to his brother. It was with a shaky resolution that he had spoken - - - the sense of familiarity coated his very being that it surprised him. It was the eldest brother’s job to make sure of the family’s safety be it physically or mentally. As of right now. . .he was taken back to a time where he had to hold his most precious sister in his arms as she cried out for their missing sibling. The sight before him was a grown man crumbling down into nothing, splayed on his knees and screaming a sad song. How his soul began to quake - - -  The emotions from the broken man hit him like a hurricane  - - - like an adrenaline rush the older brother that was hidden deep inside made his way up to the surface. Without hesitation, Craig silently and lithely made his way towards who he deemed as none other than Emmett. He felt his body going down, knees to the ground. Arms reached around to embrace him tightly. His eyes shut tightly as he bared his teeth. His frozen heart aching, body trembling as he began taking all those negative feelings away. If there were anyone to feel such things, it was Craig’s burden to bear. It was the duty of the oldest sibling to carry the weight of the family. Was this a dangerous thing to do ? Yes. Would he have had any second thoughts in saving his little brother from mental anguish ? No. 

Making sure he was eye-level with the other’s forehead, he continued to siphon the sadness. Obsidian eyes held fast, fighting the chance to change into violet. So much raw emotion could possibly be too much for him - - - as time began to elapse, the flashback of him cradling his sister as she sobbed. He spoke Emmett what he should have spoken to their sister,  ❝ I’m here. I’m not leaving. Give your burden to me, Emmett. . .this is the only thing I can do for you. . .,  ❞ if only he could shed tears, but his body was frozen. . .the only thing he could do was take it away...

           The speed and force with which he stands -enough to break the chair- makes her recoil and FLINCH, head sinking between her shoulders and eyes shutting tight for a fraction of a second in preparation for a strike or vicious grab.  Bree knows Emmet would never hurt her, knows none of them would EVER. But fifteen years of habit is hard to shake and muscle memory won’t let her forget the cues that used to strike every nerve with fearful anticipation of burst capillaries and splitting skin.

           When she opens her eyes, it’s already forgotten, but she still looks at him with pain written across a young face-- not for herself but because she wishes he knew. Knew that he didn’t HAVE to keep it all inside, that it was okay to talk about it. They were a family, weren’t they? Didn’t that mean they could (WOULD) carry each other? Bree wants to tell him he didn’t have to be so strong all the time, that he didn’t have to carry this alone just because he’s biggest and fiercest and always smiling. Her mouth opens to speak... but she says nothing, and doesn’t want to push him further than she already has. Shoulders slack with defeat and compliance. All she can do is nod at him from her seat so he knows he’s won.

          “Nothing’s gonna happen.” It’s an empty promise because Bree -none of them, actually- really knows what will happen. Her position in the coven was also the most at-risk. Bree was the weakest link, the newest vegetarian. The smallest and though physically the strongest besides Emmett, she was the most inexperienced. But she doesn’t want Emmett to worry. It’s practically criminal to see him frowning, his face twisted into expressions of anything besides his usual joy. “I’ll be okay.”
