❅ the world expands...
the seasons change, and so do we.
Hello there, wishers! Thank you for supporting Eidolon so far. We have some exciting news today: a large update comprising many of our systems.
There’s a lot to get through, so the update will be detailed beneath the cut! However, for your CTRL+F needs, the headings are as follows:
FAQ
Mayor Tasks
Progression
Careers & Education
Aurora Structure
Quality of Life
Without further ado -- the information on the update is below!
❅ faq:
To start, we’ve added some updates to the FAQ to give you more ideas of what everyday life in Eidolon is like and what activities are available for the people who live there, especially with the arrival of whistles. This includes some tips on activities that can spice up life in the village and in the Great White.
The full FAQ can be found in the FAQ document, but to help you locate the new additions, an FAQ update document is available as well. We hope this helps in your discoveries and exploration from now on!
We have also updated our mayor task information in the FAQ to reflect our mayor task update. Speaking of which...
❅ mayor tasks:
Our mayor task system has been completely revamped to better suit our member base! From now on, most mayor tasks will be permanent. Furthermore, there will be no time limit requirements, or requirements for a certain amount of muses to repeat a task for the reward, for most mayor tasks. All current mayor tasks have been transferred into a mayor task document, where you can reference them as and when you please. Take your time to discover Eidolon, and you will be rewarded at your own pace!
To complement this, a few select tasks will have time limits, but no other restrictions for completion. These are called special mayor tasks, and will centre around unique circumstances and events. These special mayor tasks may have more substantial rewards, such as powers and items, that aid in character progression. We hope you can enjoy growing in Eidolon!
There are no special mayor tasks available... as of now. However, we have added four new permanent mayor tasks to welcome you to the new system. See the new tasks and all the update information on the new mayor tasks document, which can be found from the navigation on the main blog and Altair’s Office!
❅ progression:
Perhaps you guessed it, seeing that mayor tasks were changing -- but we are updating our progression system to better reflect the needs of our members as well. Completing a trial and gathering the repeated threads necessary to qualify is time consuming, and we appreciate the effort. To say thank you, we’re updating our progression system to give bigger rewards!
For now, upon completing a trial, a muse may ask for both a power and an item. Furthermore, they may choose one of these to enhance and make stronger -- whether it was originally a notable or magical item or not. All active muses who have previously completed a trial will be contacted following the upcoming activity check to request their revised rewards.
All information on the new system can be found on our progression document. With a fuller arsenal, we hope you will be emboldened to pursue your wish ever further. This is only the beginning of the updates we have planned for our progression system, though -- so stay tuned for much more to come!
❅ careers and education:
Work is all well and good, but what of those residents who want to stretch their mind? We’ve heard your calls, and as a result, we’ve updated our careers page to include careers and education. Education options include a variety of classes, ranging from traditional academic teaching to self defence training. If you’re eager to learn, there’s something for you out there.
To learn more of the options available, check out the careers and education document. We hope you enjoy it!
❅ aurora structure:
Maybe it’s obvious, but life in Eidolon has changed recently... perhaps the absence of an issue in the current crisis was proof of that. To reflect Eidolon as it is now, the structure of the Alpine Aurora is being updated. From removing sections that are no longer relevant to the residents of Eidolon, to adding a section on whistle hunting, the newspaper changes to suit the needs of those here.
For more information on the structure of the Aurora from now on, visit the guide to the Aurora over on the newspaper blog. A new issue has just been published, so you can see the changes firsthand! We hope it can serve you better from now on.
❅ quality of life:
Finally, we know it’s all about the little things! Perhaps you noticed accessing this update, but the main blog layout and graphics, along with the twitter layout, have been completely updated. Do check it out!
Furthermore, following the upcoming activity check, we will be doing some small quality of life updates around our housing system.
Firstly, to facilitate interaction between bunkmates, we will be removing underutilised bunks and moving muses from them into occupied bunkhouses. If your muse is moved, we will message your OOC contact to let you know, so be sure to update your information! Furthermore, to further encourage bunkhouse interaction, once your muse has been part of the group for a month, you will be permitted to request a bunkhouse change. A form for this has been added to the forms on Altair’s Office. We hope this encourages you to interact and form bonds with those around you!
Additionally, we’ve been working on a full revamp of our alchemy system, which we hope to reveal to you soon. It isn’t quite ready yet, but you may notice a new location and a new NPC to match: Eidilith’s Nook. A new alchemist has settled in to prepare for something coming later, so we hope you can get comfortable until then!
That’s all for now, wishers! If you have any questions, please send them our way -- we would love to hear them. It is our pleasure to answer any concerns!
For now, though, we hope you enjoy this. May Diaidem watch over you -- and you enjoy the months to come!
