re: my ongoing battle with my eigenenemy (eigenfoe??)
do you see my cat? she and i took refuge in this italian ice shop while our building was testing the fire alarms a couple weeks ago
anyway, year 2, semester 2.
i’m working on a paper with my advisor and i really want to be done with it so we can move on to something else!! the goal was to get it done by the end of feb, but that’s in a week so uhhh
still gotta pass the abstract algebra qualifiers. still can’t stand group theory. but i’m making progress, and i think i’ll be fine.
i’m TAing for calc III again this semester, and it’s... actually going pretty well? last semester i was basically learning the material as it came, and it was sheer hell. but now it’s pretty familiar, and i’m actually getting the students to work in groups and present their work on the board, and it’s. amazing.
classes are good - i’m taking functional analysis and k-theory, and feeling pleasantly stimulated by both.
feeling kind of lonely in my department and my cohort. i want to branch out and meet grad students in other disciplines, but i’m not so sure where to start.
i hope the school year is treating you all well!
hi everyone!
gelique here, a sorta new studyblr. i said sorta ‘cause i’ve been lurking around this lovely community for years now but every attempt to create a studyblr always turn out to be a disaster. anyway, i am hoping this one would turn out pretty well, as i really need something to look forward to on my last year in the university (hopefully).
why theinhinyera?
inhinyera is basically a term in my native language (which is filipino btw) for a female engineer, and since i am an aspiring civil engineer, i thought, “why not?” + i think it is very unique.
about theinhinyera
i am currently on my 5th year as a civil engineering major at the university of the philippines - diliman. crossing my fingers that i’ll graduate this coming june 2019 and see the sunflowers bloom.
why did i start this studyblr?
like what i said earlier, i needed a major motivational boost for this year as i will be taking up most of my majors + thesis (which i do hope will turn out for the good hahaha). and since i also notice how helpful this community is in terms of motivating each other, i decided to join as well.
my study inspirations
@emmastudies @studying-engineering @studyquill @studyign @intellctuals @eigenshit @pinkmangostudies @study4engineering @enggrblr @enjoying-ce and a lot more (+++)
also if you are a studyblr, please do like and reblog this post so i can follow you if i still haven’t. let’s all study together!
Getting my inside-out-and-backwards intuitive understandings of calc/diffy q/matrix algebra fully established each in their own right and then uniting them all along with my understanding of physics into one unified, all-encompassing, connected intuitive understanding=y'all I swear this is the gd whale to my Captain Ahab.
Just... fuckin' eigenshit, man. Fuckin'. Eigenshit. Been at the 'brary w/ my bbys Wallison (boss bitch supreme) and Kennon (who is made of math) gettin' proofy wit it on some matrix. Dude, proofs are hard. And weird. Aaaaand the proof muscle of my brain has completely atrophied since last summer when I took abstract. And I have no idea what I'm doing in this class. Oh, well. I'll get it. I always do in the end some how. I believe in myself. I just hope it isn't too painful. Eesh.
What the actual fuck is an eigengene?
More importantly, though, I thought I was done with linear algebra shizz for good. Why are eigen-words popping up in biology papers? This is wrong.
