Eir’s Potion (for Colds, Flu, & Fever): Yarrow, Elderberries, Elderflowers, and Peppermint Leaves (All Organic)

A handcrafted, herbal remedy dedicated to the Norse goddess Eir designed to relieve symptoms associated with colds and flu. (Does not come pre-brewed, nor in a potion bottle.)

- - - BREWING INSTRUCTIONS - - -

For a single cup, take 1 teaspoon of this blend and infuse it in a cup of freshly boiled water for 5-10 minutes while the cup is covered with a lid. It can be drunk either hot or cold. Add a spoon full of honey for sweetness, if desired.

3-4 cups a day (constantly drinking the brew throughout the day seems to yield the best results).

YARROW, in rare cases, may cause allergic reactions, so take this potion with care. Also, do NOT take this remedy during pregnancy.

YARROW is well known as a wound healer, but it also helps aid recovery from colds, flu, and fevers. This is especially true when taken with other herbs, such as elderflowers and peppermint leaves (which are both in this potion). In Europe, ELDER has a vase amount of folklore surrounding it. Its berries have established antiviral activity, which helps prevent and recover from colds and flu. The flowers are likewise taken to stimulate sweating, reduce body temperature, and relieve fevers. PEPPERMINT may be a popular flavor during December, but it also happens to be a useful medicinal herb. Although it does not help mend colds, flu, and fever directly, it will help ease the nausea that often accompanies such ailments, making it a vital part of this remedy. Hand-Embroidered Altar Blot Pouch to Eir

Depicting items of importance to my work with Eir (healing sage, my seidr staff, and a needle for suturing), this felt blot pouch was hand-embroidered and sewn with galdr worked into each stitch.  I’ve been trying for a long time to settle on a way to incorporate embroidery into my devotional work, symbolically stitching material in honor of Eir’s duty as surgeon, but nothing seemed right. I considered making altar cloths, but I wanted something functional as well as decorative. I decided on a pouch in which I can place all my offerings and easily change them out as needed without disturbing the arrangement of my altar overmuch; it’s a good compromise. I may make a set of smaller ones for the other goddesses I honor as well and add hooks on the wall above the altar so that I can hang them there for ease of use.
