4. Where do you find inspiration for new ideas?

new ideas? what's that cliche as it might be, music mostly! not typically in the songfic kinda way but in either i'm imagining the song/piece i'm listening to as a soundtrack or I'm putting my blorbos in as a music video sorta situation - how would the scene look, what do I need to have them do to reflect the story happening in the song, what kinda vibe does this song give me, etc. Like I keep rolling a "Teenage Dirtbag" or a "Favorite T-Shirt" one shot/ficlet idea for SuperCorp (lena's pov/kara's pov respectively) around in my head but I dunno if I'll ever get around to it.

Other times, it's like a line of dialogue or something that sticks and I build something around it or just an AU idea or me going "but I don't LIKE that ending" as one does.

8. Do you prefer the beginning, middle, or end of a story?

I don't like beginning's I know that much. The whole "who are you people and do I like this story" process is one I have to push past with a lot of things.

Endings can be hit or miss - rarely do I find a story I think really sticks the landing either with too much buildup or just being "Ok That's All The Time We Have, Buh-Bye!" it just kinda. Ends. Which I think life gives you so little to have a nice neat ending that when stories don't I find it a unsatisfying (unless that's the point of the story in which case Fuck Yeah but that's rare anymore)

So probably prefer middles! I used to really specialize in drabbles and snap shots of middles of scenes and that's one of my favorite things about fanfic. You know these people, you know this story, isn't it fun to go to that warm memory where everything was Now and there's no Before no After just the Now.

3. Tell us about a headcanon you invented for a fic

i will have you know that this sent me into my ao3 works because i genuinely don't think i've ever made a hc in my LIFE.

that being said i think i have to bring up the coffee making scene at the beginning of packing fic! i guess the headcanon is that lena owns an aeropress coffee maker, and more importantly (to me), a hot water boiler! she will always have hot water at her fingertips because the boiler will have a constant supply ready for any tea or coffee (or cocoa) needs!

10. What’s a phrase you catch yourself using in multiple fics, not necessarily on purpose?

hmm i definitely do a lot of intentional double and triple repetition for emphasis if that counts as a phrase. lots of clenchclenching and hitchhitching, because how else does one describe the involuntary and rapid physical response to pleasure??

i did notice that i reused an ink metaphor in my polytrix fic that i'd used before in a supercorp fic (at least once before), but it was different enough that it felt like it was fine to keep. initially as i was writing it i was like WHATEVER I'LL PLAGIARIZE MYSELF but my memory is too shit to actually do that and what i ended up writing was not the same anyway.

also similar to your answer, i like the explicit recognition of desire and hunger, and making a character ask-but-not-ask "you like it when i('m) [insert specifics here]" is sooo hot and i WILL let them keep doing that.

24. What colors, sights, sounds, textures, etc. inspire you? Do certain environments make you feel more creative than others?

i'm inspired by a lot of (mostly pop) music! if a queer artist is singing about gay sex, it will likely become inspiration for a fic for me. as far as other sounds, a little hitch of a breath here or a soft moan there never uninspired me 😌

i also love a flash of skin: the hint of inner wrist; the dip of clavicle; the curve of neck; the peek of belly, sideboob, underboob; a glimpse of thigh; and yes i've been known to enjoy a bent knee (once, a woman sent me a photo of a plushie and her knee was in the photo (her legs were crossed) and i started SHAKING so hard my teeth were chattering and i could barely text her back)

i don't think environment plays too big a part in how creative i feel... but i kinda wish it did! it'd be convenient to have a place i could go to that would really kickstart my writing juices!

batten for the fandom reputation meme i dug up the notes i put together to allow my wife to keep your names straight during that fantastic murder mystery game valkyrees set up for us in 2020. and if this isn’t your reputation i think it should be: ‘absolutely amazing expressive/gestural figures. my art wants to be like hers when it grows up. devastatingly dapper looks. AMAZING Halloween costumes.’ and since half of these don’t actually pertain to your broader fandom presence i’ll go ahead and shoutout your kindness & generosity & terrific sense of humor and your PUNS and the fact that your work just keeps getting better and better. also i now know that you do a pretty impressive bond-movie-villain-level Russian accent. (unfair because i’d totally planned on stealing the show.) i can’t (and don’t want to try to) imagine heyday supercorp fandom without you.
