Despite its well-known status as a somewhat lacklustre houseplant, Aspidistra elatior deserves a lot more. Belonging to the Asparagaceae family and hailing from Taiwan and Japan, Aspidistra elatior can grow up to 1 metre tall over the course of one to two decades. Evergreen and perennial, it produces lanceolate glossy green leaves and spreads via rhizomes.
This plant is popular due to its tolerance of poor conditions: low light, low humidity, pollution and insufficient watering. Good drainage, a shaded location and a temperature that doesn't dip below 5°C are necessary for elatior's survival.
Perhaps the most intriguing feature of this Aspidistra is its inflorescence. These cream and purple flowers are to be found at the very base of the plant (in order to trick fungus gnats into pollinating them, under the allusion that they are fungi).

quark prioritizes every possible version or analogue to valentine’s day and inadvertently brings happiness to a ton of couples who never would’ve gotten together if it weren’t for the constant opportunities to meet cute, unfortunately quark has zero such luck and keeps trying to shoo odo away because he figures odo keeps scaring off any potential suitors. he’s right. but then, one lucky day, on the umphundredth such celebration, odo gets all territorial and smooches him in front of everybody
QUARK JUST WANTS A MEET CUTE BUT HE’S IGNORING THE MEET CUTE THAT IS RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIS EYES. Look for the meet cute that’s been there all along Quark, look for it.

this reminds me i still haven’t read it yet lol… i feel like i’ll probably have similar opinions, moderate expectations, but will probably like it more than not
yeah! I approached it with heavily managed expectations -- figured it’d be like a fun cracky fanfic, but I also kept my perspective open to enjoying it sincerely... and it ended up fulfilling both ends of that spectrum haha.
harry potter occupies such a singular time and experience in my life... that I don’t have much personal investment in new stuff?? as in, I can either enjoy or criticize it w/o it having any bearing on what the originals meant to me growing up. Schrodinger’s Canon hehe
now... to see Fantastic Beasts sometime...
