The ds9 costume designers had such incredible attention to detail when bringing alien fashion to life. Every decision made is done so to carefully support the established lore. My favourite example of this being the Cardassian military uniform, which emphasises both their devotion to hard work, AND their strong prioritisation of the traditional family structure. This is demonstrated by the fact that if u sit down for just a fucking second the breastplate knife will slice your balls clean off and diy neuter you

he does get traumatized eventually by seeing his mother die again but it's pretty funny how jake sisko goes to the mirror universe and acts like it's fucking disneyland. he's just walking around going haha look they have nog too! like he just saw mickey mouse. they hated him because he was whimsical

we needed an episode when dukat kidnaps jake to pressure the federation into helping with the klingon war and sisko is like losing his mind pacing the walls calling a fleet and then it cuts to jake and dukat's son and they're dressed like batman and robin and rescuing a cat off a tree

day five of jake being kidnapped by the cardassians. sisko has blackmailed half of the romulan fleet in order to arm the defiant with experimental weaponry. jake has convinced mekor to let him phaser apples off the top of his head and they accidentally singed the wall. they try to hang a picture to cover it up but it just keeps on falling off

they have the nastiest bites though. ferengi parents are (MOSTLY) immune to infant attacks but if you're an alien and a ferengi child bites you, you need medical attention asap because you just got poisoned.

in prehistoric times this helped younglings survive in the wild but now it's a hell of a nuisance

unless you're like 20% ferengi and you miraculously inherited the antibodies to fight it off you get your ass to the infirmary

I think there should be aliens in star trek that have sex like this, i don't know how they'll integrate it into a plot but I need it. Maybe they tried to fuck a human and then stab them in the abdomen and they fucking die or something, that sounds like a DS9 plot

It should be a species w an ovipositor like this and it should be quark who gets stabbed. He lives, it’s just a b plot w him, odo, the women, and her lawyer

There’s also a scene where Jadzia also calls him closed minded for being upset by the whole thing

Everything I know about Quark is he thought the stabbing was hot and that was the whole reason he had sex with this woman in the first place- but then he finds out she's rich so he tries to sue and get rich(er) even though Julian already healed his ovipositor wound for free.

Quark acts disgusted, of course, but that's because he disgusts himself and is aroused by his own shame.

The episode ends with him getting money for something (word undefined). The word is eventually is loosely translating to "child support". Julian explains the larvae will just suck some of his blood for a while, not actually devour Quark from the inside out. Quark wants that money so he doesn't have the larvae removed prematurely but also no one is to speak of this ever again. (Rom is very supportive)
