Hamilton: if I was stuck in a room with Aaron Burr and Thomas Jefferson with a gun loaded with two bullets,
Madison: we get it, you'd shoot Thomas twice...
Hamilton: what? No

Federalists March Unnecessary Militia to Extinguish Whiskey Rebellion
Voters.
Let me try to get this straight. Federalists (namely Secretary Hamilton and President Washington) snagged an entire militia from Pennsylvania to put down a rebellion?
Here are some facts:
1) Federal government implements tax on whiskey that they have no chance of enforcing.
2) People who make a substantial amount of their income making and selling whiskey and those who are already having a hard time affording the drink are understandably upset.
3) The farmers of Pennsylvania (7,000 in total) plan a march of protest in July. Washington and his little buddy Hamilton march their happy selves and the Pennsylvania militia (13,000 soldiers) there by September.
4) No fire was exchanged. They just showed up two months late to a protest that was no longer relevant, with a militia from the same state.
So, a couple of things. First, they mobilized a militia to halt a protest march that some citizens were concerned about becoming lethal. As a former cabinet member and a presidential candidate, I’m embarrassed. How week and pathetic does our young nation look when we “need” a militia immediately, but we have yet to take the time to mobilize one? Washington took two months to mobilize 13,000 soldiers, only to end up arresting 20 men.
Second, where were the Federalists in 1773? Where were they when parliament forced a tax on tea? Where were they when the people of the colonies found it fair and just to rebel against a tax on one of the products we consumed most? Is the Tea Party NOT the whiskey rebellion? Is this not a direct act of hypocrisy? Our country was founded on the rights of the people to speak their mind, to tell the government how to govern, whether by voting or protesting. THAT is America. On the face of things, Federalists are supporters of choice and democracy, but when those ideals no longer work to their advantage, when people stand against them in defense of their rights, they send a militia before a compromise is even conceived.
Remember to vote Jefferson for president 18k. Vote for someone who listens. Vote for someone who cares.
Election of 1800
The voice crack in the beginning of The Election of 1800 just drives me into crazy laughing spree every time. I mean seriously? Did they want to kill us all with laughter?
