I know that sounds cliche but I know from experience that sometimes you literally CAN'T believe that when it's told to you when you are deep into depression.
So let me tell you, as someone who has struggled to the point ECT was the only option left, in hopes that maybe that fact will make you listen, if only just a little: IT. CAN. GET. BETTER.
I'm not going to tell you that everything will be cured and life will magically get better. I won't be that person. But there are ways for it to get easier that isn't dying because don't I know how it feels to be in the position where death seems like the only option left.
If you are on the fence about ECT and you are reading this blog, if any of what I just said hits home, please...go for it if you can...do ECT. I know it seems super scary but it really isn't as bad as the media has portrayed it. It's really working for me and this is the best I've ever felt in my whole life. I have major depressive disorder, PTSD, anxiety disorder, BPD, and depersonalization-derealization disorder. I never saw the light at the end of the tunnel until NOW.
If any of you have questions, fears about the procedure, etc. please feel free to message me! I made this blog for a reason; to keep people informed, document my experience and help break the stigma surrounding ECT.
I love you all and I hope that you read this and feel not so alone. ♡
