A trope is a common element that is often used in storytelling. Think of an enemies to lovers romance or the final girl in a slasher movie. An archetype is a universal character type. Think, the troubled youth or the loose cannon.
This can, of course, have some crossover and can be mixed and matched as needed to tell your story in an interesting way. Nothing says your fast, agile, strong jock ( trope and archetype) can't actually be the brain (trope and archetype) of your five man band (trope.) Cyborg from Teen Titans would be an example of this.

Your theme is good, as are your sentences. Your characters are so ruddy with life they practically need birth certificates. The plot you've mapped out for them is grand, simple and gripping. You've done your research, gathering the facts-historical, social, climatic, culinary-that will give your story its feel of authenticity. The dialogue zips along, crackling with tension. The descriptions burst with colour, contrast and telling detail. Really, your story can only be great.

YEAR 6: MYTHS & LEGENDS - WHAT MAKES A GOOD STORY?
Today we talked about the three elements of nearly every story.
The SCENARIO - The place, time and characters involved.
The CONFLICT - A conflict that the characters must resolve, in the process increasing dramatic tension.
The RESOLUTION - The solution needs to be resolved in a moment of catharsis.
Homework for the next lesson is to fill the TABLE of SCENARIO - CONFLICT - RESOLUTION we drew up in class for as many films, books, tv shows and comics that you can think of with your partner.
We'll discuss them in class on Friday.
