If you'll pardon the pun, I have a trunk of vintage elephant imagery.
LMK Wukong’s Sworn Brothers clear up
For LMK fans wondering who this peeps are I just wanna make a post where I think LMK is taking Wukong’s sworn brothers
So in the original novel he has six Sworn Brothers
Female Macaque King 獼猴王
Snub Nose Monkey King (a gibbon) 禺狨王
Demon Bull King 牛魔王
Dragon Demon King 蛟魔王
Lion Demon King 獅駝王
Peng Demon King 鵬魔王
All these were brothers, who fought with him in the battle verse Heaven and there are many interpretations of how they could have had a falling out since Wukong showed preference over his own monkeys compared to the non-monkey soldiers. Only one of these brothers was seen again within the journey and that is the Demon Bull Kung. Otherwise WuKong has never addressed any other demon as his sworn brother, or claims to have known them as as such as he has done with DBK
The demons we see in the picture are as follows
Yellow Tooth Elephant king 黃牙老象
Azure Lion King/Lynx-Lion King 青毛獅子 / 獅猁怪
Golden Wing Great Peng 金翅大鵬雕
Now within the book, it is clear that these are not meant to be seen as the same demons as his brothers however, I believe LMK is going to make the creative decision to have these three demons be Wukongs sworn brothers as they are given more book time not only as villains, but I’ll give them back stories as well, allowing LMK more creative freedom to tie them with Wukongs OG Sworn brothers.
While I am sad that the original six sages are not going to be part of the series, nor will they probably be given designs, I do find this very creative and interesting, take of having future villains having personal connections with Wukong! Can’t wait to see what they do!
There are shadows in the jungle of Goa Gajah. The thousand stares which doesn't creep but they are watching, very carefully. They protect their territory and isn't very keen of the human outsiders. Some of the settlements nearby worships them like the God Barong, and those Elephant deity shared powers so the village people able to accomplish wonders.
Elephant King. Reginald Campbell. New York: Richard R. Smith, Inc., 1930. First edition. Original dust jacket; art by L.S.W.
Interesting novel set in the Siam jungle, in which an elephant, "Poo Lorn, [leads a] tribe whose depredations have struck horror to the hearts of natives and whites alike - a villainous Chinaman and his henchmen- the family of a British agent, menaced on all sides - here is a deeply stirring and significant picture of one of the outposts of progress."
Elephant King inspired by Yellow Ostrich
