Se ti trovi a Goa e sei con dei bimbi non puoi mancare una visita al Bhagwan Sanctuary, il parco naturale che si trova nella giungla quasi al confine con lo stato del Karnataka. Noi abbiamo deciso di avvinarci al parco arrivando a Kulem.

Da Panaji ci si impiega un’ora è mezza di auto tra traffico, panico da sorpasso da guida a sinistra e mucche per la strada. Ti puo capitare un taxi con il cruscotto coperto dalla pelliccia di Chewbacca o con il tempietto con Ganesh ed il santone locale,  ma questo è un dettaglio. Il viaggio nel finale diventa rilassante con un arrivo che diventa rocambolesco quando il nostro autista, con indosso la giacchetta più o meno bianca e di ordinanza , decide che vuole mollarci nel punto di ritrovo dei venditori di escursioni e noleggiatori di fuoristrada, pensando di lucrare qualche commissione.

   Arriviamo dopo minacce varie al Jungle Book a Kulem. Un resort in mezzo al verde ed alle piante officinali con casette dall’interno spartanissimo composto da letto, servizi, tre lampadine ed un ventilatore. Non serve altro e non c’è comunque altro.

 Questo è il paradiso dei bambini e dei grandi: nel resort vivono almeno 4 elefanti. Se non sono impegnati a portare a spasso i turisti te li vedi mentre mangiano o si riposano. Sono ovviamente legati (una zampa assicurata ad una catena), nei loro spazi, in sicurezza, ma sempre vicinissimi, quasi a portata di mano.

 Ai nostri figli non è mancato il coraggio di affrontare  l’Elephant Shower : si sale sulla schiena dell’elefante che se ne sta a mollo placidamente nel fiume; al comando del domatore l’elefante inizia a innaffiarsi la schiena con la proboscide facendo la doccia anche agli ospiti con un getto non da poco.

Pur essendo alta stagione il resort era abbastanza vuoto. La sera andiamo a mangiare al villaggio. Di turisti neanche l’ombra. India in tutti i sensi. Dopo due passaggi di perlustrazione lungo la strada principale ci buttiamo scegliendo un baracchino e vado come per stare sicuro di  chicken tandoori. Quando finiamo è buio pesto e torniamo al villaggio facendoci luce con la torcia, nel silenzio totale.

Il giorno successivo destinazione spiaggia saltando le altre escursioni compresa la visita alle Dudhsagar Waterfall” che sembra comunque una bella tappa a cui dedicare una giornata intera. Da Kulem si può prendere il treno per Margao cambiare e proseguire per Canacona che si trova a minuti di tuck tuck dalla spiaggia di Palolem.
